Don't get me wrong I am 100% for building buildings that match the environment this is just like all the new school row homes being built next to the old ones and they choose ugly styles like this.

I personally wished they would have built some brown or red brick structures with some old school designs to them with some artifacts in the neighborhood of the old mills and maybe even some cobble paths in certain places.

However developers look at that as extra money and we know how much they love to spend extra money.

As Jawn posted above with the pic the condo's? I believe thats what they were are already pre leased so its gonna bring a nice amount of people into the city which is needed, sometimes beggars cannot be choosers in this case Wilmington is the beggar.

Construction of hotel in Conshohocken begins. Plus, more details on bars and restaurants at SORA West
https://morethanthecurve.com/constru...-at-sora-west/

Quote:
Keystone Property Group broke ground today on Hotel West + Main, the hotel component of the 520,000-square-foot SORA West development at the corner of West Elm Street and Fayette Street in Conshohocken.
...
MoreThanTheCurve.com has reported on most of what was mentioned above before. What is new is that there will be a first-floor dining experience with an outdoor terrace that will physically connect the firehouse with the newly constructed hotel. The restaurant will be known as 1874 Social, honoring the year the fire company formed on the site. The firehouse, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, also inspired the name of the second-floor gastropub experience, the Hook & Ladder Skybar.
Conshohocken will charge out of Covid with all of this development and a pretty solid food scene with the addition of another rooftop bar. The Great American rooftop is a pretty solid spot.

Amazing what is going on Conshohocken! Looks like the hotel will be a Tapestry brand by Hilton, which is an upscale model.

I would prefer an Autograph by Marriott, I'm just not a Hilton fan.

I work in Conshy right around this.

A LOT of building going on. Weird little town, though, if you ask me.

It really is ha ha! I am not originally from the Philly area and the Conshy townies were one of the first things that stuck out to me when I moved to MontCo, as I spent a lot of time in Conshy.

The traffic is going to continue to be a major issue and they need to figure something out with all of that (although the topography does make it quite the challenge).

Frontier Airlines flight lands at Wilmington Airport, marking return of commercial service to Delaware

Quote:
The first commercial flight to New Castle Airport in almost six years landed Thursday afternoon, marking the return of Frontier Airlines to the First State after multiple pandemic-related delays.

The flight from Orlando, Florida landed around 12:30 p.m., taking passengers from an 80-degree day in Florida to temperatures near freezing in New Castle where it snowed earlier in the day.

Delaware has been the only state without commercial airline service since Frontier left in June 2015. The company announced last January that it would return to Delaware in May 2020, now as a bigger airline with lower operating costs and demonstrated business in Philadelphia, but the pandemic delayed the return several times.

N.J. Gov. Phil Murphy launches project to overhaul South Jersey’s public transit hub in Camden

Quote:
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Wednesday announced the start of a $250 million project to rebuild Camden’s weathered 32-year-old Walter Rand Transportation Center into a modern hub, with better transit connections and apartments, stores, and offices rising above it.

“This is a city that is constantly reinventing itself,” Murphy said, as the River Line light rail sounded its warning bells at a crossing and a PATCO train rumbled underfoot as it pulled into the Broadway station. “Let’s give this city a transit center that reflects its promising future.”

Rand, named after a late state senator from Camden, is the public transit gateway to South Jersey, linking Philadelphia and all of Camden County by PATCO, Burlington County and Trenton via the River Line, and pretty much everywhere else in the region on 24 NJ Transit bus routes.

And the proposed Glassboro-Camden Line, which would extend light rail service 18 miles to the south, “is something we’d all like to see,” Murphy said.

Murphy said the project would be “scalable” to include housing, retail, and office spaces. NJ Transit, which owns the facility, is expected to request proposals for the architectural and engineering design for the new center in the next few weeks. There is no timeline for completion of what the governor called a “multiyear project.”

For the record, Trump sold the Plaza back in the early 1990s as well as the Taj Mahal and the Castle, so it's no real loss on Trump's part. However the creditors at the time felt that it was more profitable to keep his name than to change it, so the Trump name stayed on the casinos until the very end.

It sounds like good news that the Walter Rand Transportation Center will finally get a long due overhaul. I'd love to see the WRTC become a multimodal center with a commuter rail (not light rail) on the top of the center, an intercity bus station inside, and a connection to the PATCO system.

The WRTC already provides intercity bus service and PATCO service but I can only wish that NJ gets out of the "light rail" craze which haunted the early 21st century and provide regular heavy-rail commuter rail service from Camden to Pennsville, Salem, Millville, Cape May, Wildwood, Ocean City, Atlantic City, Toms River, Trenton, and even Newark NJ the way North Jersey gets commuter rail.

There is a market for such heavy rail service in South Jersey as attested to the River Line and bringing back heavy rail commuter rail will help make Camden regain it's status as the "Hub of South Jersey". And if PATCO can finally expand it's system to Woodbury, Deptford, Cherry Hill and Maple Shade, Camden would look like Newark and Jersey City.

I love Longwood Gardens! The region should really play up the "Garden Capital of the World" slogan to bring back much needed tourism dollars.

Cool little video update of The Cooper in Downtown Wilmington here. I knew The Cooper looked like the best residential project from BPG in Wilmington - but their mentioning that The Cooper was designed by Philly's Digsau Architecture confirmed it. Hopefully, BPG continues this relationship!

This article from WDEL - Wilmington has a bunch of renderings.

----------

In other Wilmington news...

The 76ers Fieldhouse was renamed the CHASE Fieldhouse.
https://www.wdel.com/news/76ers-fiel...c7d9ec98d.html

The Wilmington Blue Rocks survived Major League baseball's consolidation of minor league teams (some 40+ cities lost their minor league teams). The Blue Rocks are now affiliated with the Washington Nationals (which pains me because I hate the Nats, and the Rocks will be playing AGAINST the Phillies Class-A ballclub from Lakewood). Why the Phillies never seemed to show interest in having Wilmington be its Class-A affiliate never made sense to me..., oh well. The Blue Rocks agreement with the Nats is for ten seasons.
