What a perfect height for that location -- not to mention how good the tower looks.

The tower looks really classy, kind of a comcast look to it. I never noticed the large drive on the bottom-right before. Hopefully it doesn't feel too intimidating in person.

When the heck are they gonna take the cover off of the facade of that neighboring building? I feel like we've talked about this before but it's really bugging me.

Looks like a sleeker modern Sears/Willis Tower in this pic.

Much like how we can see the FMC building from the south side of Walnut, this is going to add much visual energy to this end of the city, expanding how wide center city feels on Broad St.

Arthaus at street level from 1/14/2019. And one of the demo at the 1100 block of Chestnut for good measure.

Another floor poured today on this one, as concrete trucks were lined up for the part of the day. They are moving at a good clip.

You know, this tower almost makes up for all of the utter shit that has gone up in this city in the last 5 years (I'm looking at you, Chinatown Tower).

Almost.

I hadn't noticed Arthaus on the Kohn Pedersen Fox webpage until today, some bigger pics, and street level.

good catch...me neither. the pics on my screen are sharp and crisp. I really like the polish aluminum and glass combo look here at street level. This is really setting the standard on this side of Broad Street for any future developments to aspire to.

It's the Doubletree hotel and parking garage. Honestly, I'd like to see the whole thing WHITE-washed. Paint the whole damn thing white like the did with 1900 Market.

Before: https://www.google.com/maps/place/19...9!4d-75.172695

After: https://www.google.com/maps/place/19...9!4d-75.172695

Full interior renovation and converting it to a regular Hilton would be welcome too...

^^^^^^^
I'd like to see an exterior renovation of the first 4 or 5 stories, including refacing the garage.

Reouble Tree Hotel

I always wonder why there isn't a plan to renovate the exterior of this hotel when it is past its product lifecycle. Especially when new hotels come online and older hotels have to compete with new hotels. The hotel is in a prime location. I assume that the interior of this hotel has been refreshed, but some love should be given to the exterior. Seems like a lot of Philly's older buildings need to be on this regimen and also powerwashed in the near future.

I bet it will happen. Maybe a few years after W is up and running. Especially now that Arthaus is only condos, and there will be no SLS h=Hotel. And is the Hyde Hotel component of Dranoff's project at Pine and Broad also nixed and just going to be apartments? Arguably, we would have been at a saturation point for luxury hotels in that area for a bit if those two had launched. Without them, I think we're more likely to see an upgrade of the Doubletree. They just did this with the downtown Sheraton, upgrading it to a Marriott flagship.

Yep, I agree and sooner rather than later is better. On Broad, from City Hall to Washington Avenue should be polished as far as we are concerned. Highly visible area with folks coming from all over for the arts, etc. And, the new developments when they do get developed will help this along plus a couple of exterior renovations along this side of Broad should achieve that.

Actually, I think it's just the remaining southern half (roughly) of the same floor of which they poured the northern half the other day. But still progress--and a lot of concrete!
