From this angle you can see the core of 50 is higher than the Spiral at this point...

Notice those angled beams for the gigantic screens. Also looks like steel is shifting to the tower section above the base

I really feared that Foster would lay another egg like this at 270 Park. Thank God that the King demanded something great.

Is the core concrete the entire way up?

I have to say, even for a basic box shape, this building looks good.

Four construction workers injured in Hudson Yards scaffolding collapse

The four injured workers were brought down using a dumpster and a crane Monday morning.

Quote:
Four workers were hurt, one with serious injuries, when a scaffolding collapsed at a tower under construction in Hudson Yards on Monday morning, police said.

The collapse occurred about 7:30 a.m. at 50 Hudson Yards on 10th Ave. near 33rd St., authorities said.

Police said two construction workers fell from a scaffolding on the 18th floor and landed one floor below. It wasn’t immediately clear how the other workers were hurt. The wounded were taken to Bellevue and Mount Sinai West hospitals.

The seriously injured worker is expected to survive, authorities said.

When completed in 2022, 50 Hudson Yards will be 1,011 feet tall, making it the fourth-highest commercial office tower in the city, according to its website.

The accident appears to be the first at the construction site, according to city Buildings Department records.

Facebook is moving into more than 1.5 million square feet of office space in New York's Hudson Yards

Annie Palmer
November 14, 2019

Quote:
Facebook has signed a lease at Hudson Yards for more than 1.5 million square feet of office space and plans to move into the new offices next year.

The lease includes office space across 30 floors and three buildings in the far West Side neighborhood, Hudson Yards announced Thursday. The lease includes 1.2 million square feet of space at the 1,000-foot-tall tower 50 Hudson Yards, 265,000 square feet in 30 Hudson Yards as well as 57,000 square feet in 55 Hudson Yards.
Quote:
"When considering the next phase of our growth in the city, it was important that our newest office space was situated in the heart of a vibrant community that offered access to arts, culture, media and commerce," John Tenanes, Facebook's vice president of global facilities and real state, said in a statement. "Hudson Yards offered this and more, and we're excited to expand our offices there starting in 2020."

Facebook had been rumored to be exploring office space at Hudson Yards prior to Thursday's announcement.

The biggest chunk of Facebook’s territory there will comprise about 1.2 million square feet at 50 Hudson Yards, which will be anchored by the investment giant BlackRock once it’s completed in 2022, developers said.

The 78-story behemoth is now 75 percent leased two and a half years before tenants are set to move in, Hudson Yards officials say.

Say what you want about the bulky Sprial, or 50 Hudson, especially people who don't like the slender towers. But this is some sweet construction going on. They fit so naturally into the grid.
