The West Loop, in addition to better transit access, could use a public garage or two. This is all part of the argument that "infrastructure needs to be improved if we are going to allow this neighborhood to grow".

If we want Crains and the rest of the NIMBYs to shut up and allow more highrises, then we need it all: traffic lights, bus service, perhaps a Metra stop, L stops, Divvy bike sharing stations, and yes.....the EVIL parking garages that so many of you say that you hate but you still use anyway!
I would accept a parking garage here only as part of a bargain to eliminate the parking along Randolph and turn it into a proper urban boulevard (think Paris, Barcelona, Milan, etc). The city was doing a study on this pre-Covid and it just... disappeared? Of course, proper urban boulevards don't have god-awful parking garages fronting on them, but you hope the tree canopy gets thick enough that you don't notice.

If this parking garage wasn't on a main thoroughfare like Randolph and instead hidden in one of the side streets and there were apartments on top of the garage I wouldn't be mad tbh.

The approved PD includes a future phase with a mixed-use office building along Ada, so that should partially screen the garage from the east... unfortunately the plumbers will maintain a surface lot on the west.

Streetview is also very current - I believe it has OCS topped out in it. So there are endless new 'skylines' available via streetview for those curious what it looks like from various areas around town.

I noticed that too a few days ago - WPS, Union Station tower, Study hotel in Hyde Park, all show very recent construction, within the past 9 months or so..

You can also see a lot of infill progress in Bronzeville and Woodlawn. Really cool to see those places stitch themselves back together from above.
