The forecast has called for snow for several days so it's not even like this was a surprise snow storm. I was out earlier this evening and there were no plows out, none of the steeper streets had been closed to traffic, and it just seemed like there was no preparation at all.
It's 11:30pm and according to Google Maps, traffic is still not moving on any of the suburban highways. Someone could have left Vancouver hours ago to get to PoCo and still not be home.

If these time stamps are correct, that's some crazy Alex Fraser Bridge traffic for 2am.
Port Mann Bridge webcams are down.

Yup, AFB was closed in both directions from around 7pm. Multiple crashes with semis and buses. Northbound opened around 10ish and it looks like southbound just opened.

it took me just over 2.5 hours to get home from Kingsway and Knight area to the Coquitlam side of Lougheed Town Centre area. The worst of it was between Brentwood and Lougheed that portion of the trip took two hours in barely moving traffic. I ended up taking getting off Lougheed at underhill and using the back/side roads and they were quite light for traffic and moved better, but still took about 30 minutes. I finally get a block away from home and got stuck behind some honda civic with summer tires who got spun out on a pretty flat stretch of road, I was able to pass but why even attempt to go out. Austin had dozens of cars spinning out or pulled over. I later went out around 7 pm on skytrain and the Lougheed was bumper to bumper from Gagalardi to Sperling. New West was also bumper to bumper from downtown to highway one, both directions.

Also what time did it start snowing where you are? In east Van light snow started around 9:30 am, my bf in Surrey said he never saw any snow till afternoon.

And I had gone out in the evening around 7 pm, I got home around 11 pm and the power was out, it was really dark and quiet and the emergency lights in our building had run out of their power so it was pitch black and my phone was just under 20%, lucky i had some charge in my backup battery charger. Power came back on around 3, Tv was very loud and many lights came on lol. It was really cold too.

A lot of sidewalks downtown have not been cleared and will now freeze solid into ice.

Besides getting some food for lunch, I'll be staying put in my apartment today. Everything is frozen solid outside.

The city seems to have been more prepared for this one but there were some areas that were rougher than I expected. The Granville Street Bridge had some lumpy spots and they hadn't cleared the NB Hemlock on ramp very much.

Not going into work today (yay for snow!).

The forecast called for 5 to 10 cm, but a lot more than that fell. I haven't been outside yet, but it looks like at least 20 cm where I live at Mt. Pleasant.

All can rest assured: I've just watched a plow clear the bike lane around the West Convention Centre. FOR REAL.

Thank God. Crisis averted.

Awesome shots! It has been a few years since I recall shots such as that.

The City of Vancouver has 269 priority snow removal routes. 16 are bike lanes and 7 are pedestrian pathways. Surely 91% of priority routes is enough for drivers?

Also, can you describe what plow was used? Was it a full-sized vehicle that would even be appropriate for vehicle lane use? My understanding is that the City uses miniature plows to clear bike lanes and pedestrian paths.

The official amount at the airport is 4.0cm yesterday (before 10pm), and 24cm today (after 10pm).
