this is the most disappointing tower in town for me. so many years of waiting and it was once hoped to be a tallest. it's way too short and just bland at best. downtown brooklyn has well moved on from it. will be good to complete citypoint at last though.

^^^ Agreed, and with the start of 9 DeKalb Avenue this is really bland and insignificant.

One tower I wish could be taller for DoBro is 420 Albee Square. I think its one of the best projects, probally 2nd IMO, that will rise. 9 Dekalb a clear winner.

Just fyi for Albee Square.

I'm not really excited for the design of this one (Phase III Citypoint), but I do like the impact that it will have on DoBro. Its crazy to think that just a few years ago, this would of been all the rave, but the skyline continues to grow upwards, so its not that exciting anymore.

Exclusive New Renderings For Extell’s Brooklyn Point, 138 Willoughby Street, Downtown Brooklyn

Quote:
The building’s turn to mid-century design comes as the wave of new towers cresting on the Downtown Brooklyn skyline have taken a turn towards the past for inspiration. Nearby, the neighborhood’s future tallest at 9 DeKalb Avenue, designed by SHoP Architects, takes heavy inspiration from art deco.

Brooklyn Point’s point of calling is not dated nearly as far back, and Kohn Pedersen Fox’s design for the exterior is undeniably contemporary, though masonry accents do break up the glass.

Completion is anticipated by early 2021. SLCE Architects is the architect of record for the tower, and pricing for studios will start at $840,000.

Brooklyn luxury tower’s rooftop pool will be highest in the city

By Jennifer Gould Keil
February 4, 2018

Quote:
A new luxury condo building in Brooklyn will offer stunning sky-high views of Manhattan — and that’s just from the pool.

Brooklyn Point in Downtown Brooklyn will feature the highest rooftop pool in the city when finished, according to its builder, Extell Development.

The 27-foot-long saltwater infinity pool will sit atop the 68-story tower at 138 Willoughby St., which, as part of the City Point commercial and residential complex, will bear the address 1 City Point.

Open from the spring through the fall, the pool will feature mosaic glass tiles and be surrounded by lounge chairs for sunbathing and socializing on a Brazilian ipe-wood deck surrounded by planters filled with flowers, shrubs and even trees.

The pool area will include outdoor showers, changing rooms and plenty of space for al fresco dining.

The pool deck will come with its own stargazing observatory, and there will be open-air movie screenings.

The building is the work of developer Gary Barnett of Extell, which erected the first residential structure on the city’s Billionaires’ Row at 157 W. 57th St.
The 157 address is home to the city’s most expensive — and only — $100 million condo.

Extell also is developing Manhattan’s Central Park Tower, the tallest residential building in the world at 1,550 feet. Its most expensive unit is reportedly expected to list at $95 million.

Brooklyn Point, set to be completed in early 2021, also will cater to the extremely well-heeled.

There will be 458 units in the building, from studios to three-bedrooms. Prices start at $840,000 and go up to $4 million.

Katherine Newman is designing their interiors in what she calls “Brooklyn industrial chic” and “refined midcentury aesthetic.”

Other building amenities include a fire pit, yoga studios and wine rooms, along with a Roy Lichtenstein-inspired ceramic installation of wall art in the lobby.

The City Point complex includes a Trader Joe’s, Century 21, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and Target.

Brooklyn Point will be the tallest residential building in the borough — at least briefly. Another tower, at nearby 9 DeKalb Ave., will be taller with 73 stories, the local news site Bklyner reported.
