Construction Passes Halfway Mark On The Charlotte At 25 Columbus Circle In Jersey City

Quote:
Construction has passed the halfway mark on The Charlotte, aka 25 Columbus Drive, a 57-story mixed-use skyscraper in Jersey City. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Mack-Cali with Fogarty Finger as the interior architect, the building will eventually stand 626 feet tall.

Recent photos show the increasing presence of the tower, which has risen swiftly since going vertical last November. Construction has passed the main setback, which can be seen in the rendering above. Installation of the curtain wall has yet to commence, though we could expect to see the first set of panels go up sometime in the latter half of the year. The yellow safety cocoon is steadily climbing with each poured floor and will conclude with a flat roof parapet.

Bound by Christopher Columbus Drive to the north, Montgomery Street to the south, Washington Street to the east, and Warren Street to the west, the development is a short walk to the Grove Street PATH Station. The Harborside and Paulus Hook ferry terminals are located by the waterfront and the Exchange Place PATH station are also nearby.

The rendering shows two sets of envelope patterns. A grid of white, multi-story rectangular panels covers the northern elevation, while the southern façade appears to interlock around the edges and is composed of a tighter array of square windows with slightly darker mullions. A podium is shown on the bottom corner of the western profile that will run along Montgomery Street. The Charlotte will make a substantial impact on the overall downtown Jersey City skyline and will sit comfortably among the overall height of the nearby skyscrapers.

The Charlotte is slated to open in 2022, as noted on the construction fence.

Week or so ago - sorry for the photo overload. I did notice something - I don't see any vents for PTACs - could this building have central HVAC? Or are the lower floors just going to be used for something other than residential?

We haven't been seeing nearly as much Jersey City stuff so DON'T even think of aplogizing for the photo bonanza, Oron! It's massive.... fingers crossed here it indeed does not have those unsightly PTAC vents as it appears. The color scheme appears much lighter so far here than the renderings... I saw a lot of brick originally but looks like lots of white instead of reddish/brown brick work. Is there a current rendering?

Nice! Filling in those skyline holes slowly but surely. This is a nice looking one, too.

From mid August

Feel like they should have integrated the school into the structure better. This looks like any generic public school from the 1960s
