Yes. Not just a re-clad either. They have added 8 or 9 floors I believe.

It's now known as The Britt...

Wellesley is looking quite auspicious so far. One of my least favourite new towers in Toronto is that tacky thing on the right in GeneralLee's last picture. I believe it's called 5ive, or something ridiculous.

Yea...that tower is certainly um, interesting. I don't mind it, but I'm still pissed off that they haven't finished the balconies fully.

EDIT: just finished editing, here's the project as of today, taken with my camera:

I'm most bothered by the ultra-cheap-looking crown. The waves also don't work somehow. To me, it just looks schlocky overall.

for all the pics of assorted developments.

You're the first 2 people I've come across that aren't enamoured with 5ive Condos and I've followed it from proposal to construction to completion. Of the last 200 buildings to go up in Toronto it's easily in my top 10. Units in there were very expensive and you can tell when you stand next to it. They used very high end beautiful materials.

5ive was never going to appeal to staid conservative tastes. It's no minimalist box but didn't go to the other extreme either. There's nothing tacky about it imo.

I can't comment on the quality of the materials. The design is what I find chintzy.

I gotta agree. I feel like the design wasn't streamlined enough....it's busy, and kind of loses it's identity when you look at it on different sides. I do like the form of the tower and the undulating balconies, but I don't care for them anymore since they took so long to install and lost their lustre after a few months. The street level area, from what photos have shown, looks good......at least better than a lot of projects.

What the hell is up with the 1960s open space urban planning going on at the base of this tower?

It's going to be a park. This is literally a tower-in-a-park happening here...
