CA urban areas are often chopped up too much, IMO, so i'll be including UAs with populations going down to 50,000 people, if they're part of a cluster of 200,000+ people.

the Bay Area:

Contiguous UAs (those with development blended together to some extent at the borders) are grouped together:

------
San Francisco–Oakland, CA 3,515,933
San Jose, CA 1,837,446
Gilroy–Morgan Hill, CA 114,833
------

------
Concord–Walnut Creek, CA 538,583
Antioch, CA 326,205
Livermore–Pleasanton–Dublin, CA 240,381 (these ones are separated from the SF UA by parkland, with the closest inhabited areas in each being about a mile apart)
-------

-------
Vallejo, CA 175,132
Napa, CA 84,619 (these ones are separated from the SF and Concord UAs by the Carquinez strait, and is well connected to both via bridges, with the closest inhabited areas in each being less than a mile apart)
-------

-------
Fairfield, CA 150,122
Vacaville, CA 101,027 (these ones are separated from the Vallejo UA by parkland, with the closest inhabited areas in each a couple miles apart)
-------

-------
Santa Rosa, CA 297,329
Petaluma, CA 65,227 (these ones are separated from the SF UA by parkland, with the closest inhabited areas being a few miles apart)
-------

urban areas of 200k+ people within 200 miles of the Bay Area:

Sacramento, CA 1,946,618 (around 20 miles away from the Bay Area)
-Woodland, CA 61,133 (separated from Sac by a few miles of farmland)
-Davis, CA 77,034 (separated by a few miles of farmland)

Fresno, CA 717,589 (around 100 miles from the Bay Area)
-Madera, CA 81,635 (separated from Fresno by a few miles of farmland)

Bakersfield, CA 570,235 (around 200 miles from the Bay Area)

Reno, NV–CA 446,529 (around 150 miles from the Bay Area)
-Carson City, NV 61,629 (contiguous)

Stockton, CA 414,847 (around 10 miles from the Bay Area)
-Tracy–Mountain House, CA 120,912 (separated by a few miles of farmland)
-Manteca, CA 86,674 (contiguous)
-Lodi, CA 73,090 (contiguous)

Modesto, CA 357,301 (around 30 miles from the Bay Area)
-Turlock, CA 79,203 (contiguous)

There's also Merced (around 60 miles from the Bay Area), which doesn't quite make the cut off, at 150,052 people, but it's big enough to have a UC campus and future HSR stop, so I feel like I should include it.

There are also some regions within 200 miles where there are clustered, mostly non-contiguous urban areas, with a total population of 200,000+, but no single urban area with that many people:

the Monterey Bay Area (around 10 miles away):
-Salinas, CA 177,532
-Santa Cruz, CA 169,038
-Seaside–Monterey–Pacific Grove, CA 123,495
-Watsonville, CA 68,668

the Visalia area (about 150 miles away):
-Visalia, CA 160,578
-Tulare, CA 70,628
-Porterville, CA 69,862
-Hanford, CA 66,638

the Central Coast (around 150 miles away):
-Santa Maria, CA 143,609
-El Paso de Robles–Atascadero, CA 67,804
-San Luis Obispo, CA 56,904
-Arroyo Grande–Grover Beach–Pismo Beach, CA 50,885
