Which megacities have you seen?

Wikipedia lists 42 megacities in the world. How many of them have you seen?
  • Bangalore
  • Bangkok
  • Beijing
  • Bogotá
  • Buenos Aires
  • Cairo
  • Chengdu
  • Chennai
  • Chongqing
  • Delhi
  • Dhaka
  • Guangzhou
  • Ho Chi Minh City
  • Hyderabad
  • Istanbul
  • Jakarta
  • Johannesburg
  • Karachi
  • Kinshasa
  • Kolkata
  • Lagos
  • Lahore
  • Lima
  • London
  • Los Angeles
  • Metro Manila
  • Mexico City
  • Moscow
  • Mumbai
  • Nagoya
  • New York
  • Osaka
  • Paris
  • Rio de Janeiro
  • São Paulo
  • Seoul
  • Shanghai
  • Shenzhen
  • Tehran
  • Tianjin
  • Tokyo
  • Xiamen

So far I've seen 10. By end of year I might tick off two additional (Mexico City and Bangkok). And I have at least 10 others on the bucket list. One of those is Tehran, which I am skeptical that I'll ever get the chance to visit.

Nagoya
New York
Osaka

Rio de Janeiro
São Paulo
Seoul

Shenzhen
Tehran

Hoping to hit up Johannesburg, Mumbai, and Tehran soon.

Had no idea Nagoya was a megacity, seemed like a small-ish (by Japanese standards) city to me. Didn't know it was in a region of 10 million.

Yeah, you don't have to be particularly well-travelled, just well travelled in Asia to do well on this list.

Maybe not many on this forum which skews towards vacationing in European and North American destinations.

Only 5:

Johannesburg
London
Paris
Rio de Janeiro
São Paulo

And outside those, it wouldn't be no other city where near those. Not even above 5 million (I've never been to Belo Horizonte, despite being only 500 km away). Above 4 million than I've visited Porto Alegre, Brasília, Cape Town, Durban, Rome and Berlin.

P.S. I'm always surprised on how a lot of SSPers have visited Brazil.

Chicago and San Francisco should be on this list. But..

I've been to London, Paris, Moscow, New York and Los Angeles.

Nothing much original or exotic from me...
I've spent my whole life in Paris, so it doesn't really count as anything I would have ever visited as a tourist or for business.

You'd expect to find Hong Kong or Chicago in that kind of lists.
That one may be too short.

The cutoff is 10 mill

Chicago is about a 500k short to make the list

Hong Kong is only about 7 million

For me, of these megacities listed, only 7 of them:

Istanbul
London
Los Angeles
Metro Manila
New York
Paris
Tokyo

I've been to the airport in Seoul, but that doesn't count.
