DOB inspectors are on the scene at the @EmpireStateBldg today to help ensure that its relocation to Brooklyn is done so in a code-compliant manner! Fun Fact: Historic tower relocations statistically receive more code violations than any other type of project in NYC #SafetyFirst

Free Access to Fifth Avenue Lobby

Does anyone know if access to the 5th Avenue lobby of the Empire State Building is still free to the general public since the Observatory entrance was moved to 34th Street in August 2018. From what I understand, the 5th Avenue lobby is still used as an exit for Observatory visitors and is also used as an entrance for tenants. There is also from what I understand a Gray Line Visitors Center is only accessed from that lobby and an entrance to a Walgreens from the 5th Avenue lobby. So, does anyone know if members of the public are still allowed to visit the 5th Avenue lobby without paying for the Observatory or if it is only open for tenants and Observatory visitors?

Still my favourite skyscraper in NYC.

Couple years old, but I snapped this when I was in NYC last time on Halloween 2020.
