Jefferson CEO reveals plans to build Center City facility 'not like anything that exists today'

Some key quotes:

Quote:
Jefferson Health plans to expand its Center City footprint with the addition of a multimillion-dollar ambulatory care center about a block from its main hospital.

CEO Dr. Stephen Klasko provided limited details about the building project during a recent Philadelphia Business Journal "Power Interview" virtual event. He said the health system expects to provide more information about its plans in September.
...
Jefferson's outpatient facility, Klasko said, will be "the most innovative ambulatory center" and "not like anything that exists today." He said their goal is to provide a center where everything that isn't acute intensive care can be provided.

The outpatient care center will be built at 11th and Chestnut streets, according to industry sources, where a building formerly occupied by an assortment of retail stores is nearly demolished. East Market developer National Real Estate Development filed zoning permits with the city in October for two towers on the site: a 23-story medical office building with retail on the bottom and a 24-story tower with 396 apartments and retail.
...
"It's just that anything elective ought to be done in a very consumer-oriented focus," he said. "So we're going to partner with not just the best health systems in the country and the best venture capitalists in the country, but we're going to partner with hospitality and others that are looking at a very different way of providing care."

The new outpatient care center is not the only building project Jefferson has planned for Center City.

In December, Jefferson announced it had received</a> a $70 million gift from Sidney and Caroline Kimmel, which it will use for a 12-story biomedical research building at 9th and Locust streets. The research building is expected to cost between $300 million and $350 million to erect on land now used for a Jefferson parking garage. The building will be connected to the Bluemle Life Sciences Building by a bridge to promote exchanges with researchers in the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center.

However, it's not the third tallest building east of Broad St. I don't know how that keeps getting into the written copy.

What I really like about this project is that it's superior infill for an area that used to be subpar considering the location of Center City. Can't wait for this proposal to be fully realized and also wondering what the streetscape will look like and the project is much better than what's going on in Schuylkill Yards overall simply because it sticks to it's original plans. I'm hoping that the streetscape is nothing more than endless retail of restaurants and boutiques.

Follow the link, click on "Location", scroll down... [for some reason it won't follow the link directly to the Location page]
There are pics going back to early July in the movie version.

You can even see the crane for the Piazza II project, over top of a building to the NE.

Finishing the last of the parking structure, and making good progress patching up the
side of the Ludlow office building.

I just noticed the top of some type of drill poking up over one of the Chestnut st buildings (webcam) this afternoon. Earilier there were what appeared to be rebar cagings laid out near 11th. They were moved (west) about the time the drill showed up.
However, the web cam doesn't have a direct LOS on the residential foundations

I'm confused, the first image on the first page shows a blocky building with flat cladding. However on the Jefferson site it shows a curvy facade. Which version is the current version? And is there a CDR PDF?

Indeed...I think this one should be considered "Under Construction." One of the mods should move it under that thread.

Are they installing caissons/rebar yet? That's the required threshold per SSP forum rules to move to under construction. Looks like they're shoring at the very least. We're almost there!
