I'm just amazed that there haven't been major slowdowns, controversies, or incidents on the construction. It's progressed at a steady clip this entire time more or less. Dismantling the old Tappan Zee will be something else though I'm sure.

Came here to check out any additional coverage or photos that may have popped up and saw this while scrolling down and LOLed.

Thankfully nobody was seriously injured, being such a busy span it is pretty lucky this didn't come down on top of a few people.

I'm no longer amazed. Crane collapses and NY construction seem to go hand in hand.

wow that is quite a shot and contrast between the old and new bridges. this has really made very steady progress.

can these construction crews work underground? we got a 2nd ave subway project they could move on to.

Two different authorities working on two different projects. Surface projects are quite different than underground projects, for one, the cranes aren't necessary.

If their firm specializes in tunnel boring and structural work then MTA will have their name on the bidding list for the SAS's Phase Two.
