This is gorgeous. We need more of this.

If every lowrise looked like this I wouldn't get so upset when they take up prime lots!

Woah! That's amazing; I'm curious what kind of material is used as the pigment to make it white.

This makes me hope we see more of this style over the modern style. And I love the white!

People attempt these types of styles all the time in Philly, but they don't bring the design or the materials to back it up. Good to see a reminder that if a developer goes in this direction, the end result doesn't have to be boring and blend into the background.

^ Aint that the truth? Can’t under-emphasize the importance of materials.

I love white brick homes as well! Another great example of this is at the SE corner of 19th and Poplar/Perkiomen in Francisville.

This is excellent news! I wish it was a little taller to match what is across the street, but it will help complete the needed density in that area.

The problem is that the first floor looks like a WWII German bunker. Hopefully they dress it up but you can probably only do so much with such an anti-pedestrian street level.

Yikes. Can't tell though, are those large cut outs for garage doors or are they windows? If they're windows, don't think it will be too bad and definitely agree with Nelsondvm2015 that the upper floors look great.

If they're garage doors though...

Overall though great to see so much construction going on and really great that PMC is even planning new projects throughout this.

i know little about brick manufacturing processes or even ceramics. However, if i were so motivated to form white brick, my sensibilities would guide me toward kaolinite base and titanium dioxide for enhancement.

Titanium dioxide might be unnecessary. I notice a light cream color in the image ( but perhaps not in the field ) and either kaolinite can naturally possess that pigment or it is easily added.

For those interested, the city is planning a full redesign of Washington Avenue - take a survey about your preferences here:

I prefer the 3 lane design but the mix seems to be a half decent idea. Washington more buildings could use the 3 lane design especially for the markets 8/9th and 10/11th street. More public space for people is needed
