^ What's happening to the parking lot south of City Square 162? Hopefully that gets redeveloped soon as well.

Thanks for the great pictures. I remember once reading an engineering report about the history of using pilings in building foundations in New Orleans, and it discussed that the Charity building was one of the first major buildings to use them. The builders used 50’ wooden piles which were initially fine but a few decades later the building began to settle, cracking the limestone by the windows on the first floor. The report then showed pictures almost identical to the ones above, where you can still see those cracks. This was a lesson for later built buildings to use deeper piles.

Thank you!

I know it is said often by some people, but I would like to say thank you to those (especially to Tennis) who post frequently. Thanks for working so diligently and enthusiastically for keeping this thread active and up-to-date. I don't live directly in the city, but I love keeping up with what's happening.

I hope I live long enough (!) to be able to visit New Orleans after the Charity Hospital renovation is done.

Having seen the hospital many years ago, I can't wait to see the changes.
