We need to play .630 to .650+ the rest of the year if we want to do anything of significance.

Safe to say that Maurice has been exposed.
Good goaltending can also mask a lot of weaknesses in teams.

Paul Maurice had the luxury of Hellebuyck in Winnipeg (who coincidentally had a down season last year) and this year he is getting atrocious goal tending in Florida - while Helly has rebounded to top form this year, benefitting Bowness.

Just got to get in to the playoffs. The west this year is wide open.

Fair comment. But by the same token, defensively sound hockey can reduce the burden on a goalie, and it does look like the Jets are doing better in that regard.

I mean, it still happens, but it doesn't seem that Hellebuyck is being asked to carry the team on a regular basis the same way as before... the Jets are more than a one trick pony again.

I think Bowness deserves a lot of credit here.

RIP Gino Odjick

Kind-hearted tough guy, originally from the Kitigan Zibi FN near Maniwaki in the Outaouais, about 150 km north of Ottawa.

He actually inspired a lot of younger Indigenous hockey players to work hard to make the NHL.

I knew he was ill - he was diagnosed with a rare but highly degenerative disease a few years ago. The prognosis was never good for him.

He died of a heart attack at 52. Slightly younger than me.

Florida is much worse defensively YoY.

Bob's GAA and xGAA are actually pretty close. He's definitely not providing anything anywhere near the value of his contract, but calling his play atrocious isn't factually correct. Below average? Absolutely. Atrocious? Hard no.

Vancouver is getting atrocious goaltending. Both guys are bottom decile in basically any goaltending fancy stat one can look at.

Unrelated, aside from their roles on their respective teams. But if anyone hasn't seen the documentary about Bob Probert, do yourself a favour and watch it. Pro sports is not a great life for many who make it to that level.

^I've been meaning to watch that. Thanks for the reminder.

Edmonton not falling flat at home and getting some decent goaltending from Campbell.

Credit where credit is due.

A competitive and rather complete game by the whole team last night and only one of a handful of games that I can say that for this season.

Not sure who said what in the room, perhaps Kaner's return pumped the kids up, but there was something in the water last night.

Campbell played very well, maybe his best game of the year IMO.

Kane made his presence known, but was rusty and should have had 2Gs and 1 or 2 apples.

Drai missed what, 1 if not 2 open nets and looked like his timing was off.

McD was McD.

Maybe the best thing though was how patient we were exiting our zone and/or able to get the puck up and out off the glass.

Between this W and the one we took away from Vegas, a MASSIVE week for the Oil.

Tragic and yet incredibly inspiring at the same time.

Yes, I've seen it. It's really worth watching.

Congratulations to Stamkos for goals 500, 501 and 502 last night.

Pathetic effort from the Flames last night.

No Makar? No problem!

I'm starting to lean towards no playoff hockey in Alberta this year.

If the Oilers can keep the momentum up there will only be playoff hockey in Edmonton this season

With Kane back, we should only trend upwards and are usually a post-January team.

My team is a total tire fire this year.
I hope we finish last.

Leafs looking extremely good in the much-awaited showdown between Toronto and Winnipeg tonight. 3-0 in the second.

Marner has extended his club record home points streak to 20 games with a shorthanded goal 20 seconds into a comically bad tripping call by the refs. There would probably have been a quick even-up coming, but a shortie is even nicer.

Leafs have Montreal on HNIC this weekend - happy days.

FIVE IN A ROW BABY!

What a fun game to watch; it almost felt like an early playoff game.

Kane still rusty, but wait until he gets going.

Campbell looked good, again.

Kostin still my hero and held his own against Maroon.

Hyman simply the best!

Nurse looked terrible, again.

Ugh. @Vancouver, Columbus, Chicago.

Why is the pessimist in me expecting bad things from the Oilers over three games they should win?

They have clawed to striking distance of Los Angeles and surprisingly close to Seattle and Vegas now.
