I just realized, when looking at this cool thread about the Regional Connector stations under construction, that there will be a subway station on Second St. between Spring and Broadway that will be served by the A Line (which will run from Long Beach to Pasadena and the SGV) and the E line (which will run between Santa Monica and East Los Angeles). That would be a great place for a supertall, and looking at Google satellite view, there are several large surface parking lots that would be perfect sites for new development.

Photos of the Broadway station under construction:

An unrelated photo of Metro wrapping up the cut-and-cover tunnel on Flower Street. The tunnel running under Flower will carry the A and E lines, and is already complete:

While not super tall, there are at three 45 to 55 story buildings coming just on that corner. Two replacing the la times garage and 1 on top of the subway station

Maybe a supertall on the perimeter of 1st, 2nd, Olive, and Hill? That lot is huge. The Grand and its amenities will definitely serve that area.

Is there going to be a stop at 1st and Central and the Little Tokyo Arts District? If so are they going to each service the separate lines?

I always thought there should be another stop between 4th and 5th on Flower, which seems like a good location and the 2nd and Hope should have been on 2nd and Grand.

Both lines will stop at the new underground station in Little Tokyo.

The original proposal was to have a stop around the Bonaventure between 4th and 5th, but it was eliminated due to cost and being relatively close to 7th. I also don't think that it helped that the Bonaventure was opposed to the cut and cover technique and tried to have the line use tunneling or be canceled. I think that they sued metro. Or maybe they sued after their station was eliminated? My memory is hazy, but I recall them being opposed to the line.

The map shows both the former, above-ground station (listed as Little Tokyo/Arts District), and the future, below-ground station (listed as 1st St/Central).

Thanks all. That is really annoying regarding the Bonaventure. I think it would have made a great stop even if only 3 blocks form the 7th street stop. Thanks for clarifying regarding the 1st and Central stop replacing the above ground Little Tokyo station. Any idea why the could not have made the stop at 2nd and Grand rather than behind everything relevant on 2nd and Hill?

And awesome photos, Craigs!

Just had to post this insanely cool, and massive, 1909 drawn map of downtown LA.

The size is huge, but you know you want to see every little detail!

I think this fell under the radar. New 15 story supportive housing project in skid row.

I think this makes the 3rd (?) 15-20 story supportive highrise in that area u/c.

I wonder how many they can/will build of these . Dozens? Why not? I

We should be seeing the crypto.com arena renovation renderings soon. The kings announcer mentioned during the game that he has seen them and that they are incredible.

^^ I love that the building doesn't block the Pelli tower. Fits perfectly!

Was able to capture the changing of the guard (from Staples red to Crypto blue) last week.

End of an era.
