Not all infill projects can be remarkable.

Kinda reminds me of the Fairmont - there's that one little corner that's curvy, while the rest is square. I guess a small remnant of the original design.

IIRC this one went through some significant design changes too - I think the original design showed a neat panel system facade all the way up the tower.

Agreed. This one felt very much a victim of value engineering from its original form.

At about 21 meters (70 feet) now, or about 11% of its final height.

A minor nit to pick: the thread name says "55 floors" while the building's website says "56": https://modernaustinresidences.com/views/

We should let them know that they need to correct their website to 55 floors. Sheesh, makes me lose faith in the entire project when they can’t even get the floor count right on their own tower. /s

Maybe it’s the angle, but it looks a little short compared to some of the neighboring towers. Should be about 60 ft taller than The Travis and 160 ft taller than 700 River.

I really dig the dark accents, but from the renderings it looks like the metal panels are really only prominent on the podium, with the upper tower being mostly glass. Hoping I'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure the upper tower is all glass. Glad to see nice accents on the garage portion though.

I noticed the two colors of glass; Blue and Blue/Green. Hopefully they will play off each other and read well on the tower. I am excited to see this building become part of our skyline.

It's been at a floor-a-week pace for several weeks now. If this holds the building will top out around this time next year.

Yeah, I noticed yesterday driving south on I-35 through downtown that The Modern is now poking up and easy to see from a section of that highway.

"Official" building floor counts are based on the highest occupied level which is 55 on this project. Levels 56 & 57 are for mechanical.

EDIT: Good catch. I checked the link, and the 56th floor was added as a residential floor after the approved elevations were released. I think the height of the tower is in question now since we don't have elevations showing the updated 56 occupied floors.

There's a 2-story penthouse on the 55th, so the 56th is not a separately occupied floor, don't know if this makes a difference.
The construction cam looks to be down.

Perhaps we were never meant to know about the camera in the first place, and someone related to the project caught wind that the link had been made public?
