NEW YORK | 685 5TH Ave | 350 FT | 30 FLOORS

Residential conversion and 10-story addition at a prime 5th Ave location. Hopefully this is as well executed as the Walker Tower.

Quote:
The existing property is being redeveloped and 10 additional floors are planned for the top for a finished product that will rise 30 stories and 350 feet high. And while the site on the corner of East 54th Street is currently home to a Coach flagship, Stuart Weitzman boutique, and Tag Heuer store, Brookfield Properties is marketing the retail space, and the whole building is in for another dusting of luxury: Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has signed on to manage the condo portion.

I think renovations/vertical additions will be much more common down the line. Might even be the future for the high rise/skyscraper nods within Manhattan. Still provides a reasonable accommodation for preservationists, all the while adding much needed space.

I’d love to see the Rolex building get redeveloped. A 1,000’ RAMSA on that spot would be a printing press.

This looks nice. Thoughtful addition in a superprime location.
