The Barcalo lofts
Silo City lofts phase one

Thats off the top of my head, would be nice to see someone post photos of any of these projects.

Note that many previously announced and posted projects on this thread disappeared off the radar. I may update this in the future when I see firm commitment to build (permits, shovels in the ground, etc) from the multiple announced projects in the city. Others feel free to add or comment.

Austin, so glad to see you still posting. Haven't seen you in awhile!

Check out benp's comprehensive before/after streetviews. It's actually hard to comprehend how many changes have occurred in the 40sq miles of Buffalo in the past decade:

On the Public side of development:

Groundbreaking held at Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park

The former LaSalle Park is now the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park, and on Tuesday, a big groundbreaking celebration gave us an update on how its transformation is going. The Ralph C. Wilson Junior Foundation announced a $50 million commitment to the project in 2018, now nearly four years later, funding from other groups has brought the total up to $110 million.

Work done to date has been shoreline stabilization and breakwall replacements, with bulk of park and access work just beginning. The Fund is part of the proceeds of the sale of the Buffalo Bills from the estate of Ralph Wilson, which was 100% given to charities and community development in Detroit and Buffalo.

Here's what's coming to city's waterfront with the new park -

Ampitheater and Outer Harbor projects.

Continued development of Outer Harbor areas, including creation of the large amphitheater developed from former Port Terminal B building, and significant state funding for park and access improvements.

Delaware & Lackawanna Railroad Terminal

Located at the foot of Main Street on the Buffalo River, the terminal last served commuter trains in the 1960s, but has served as the Metro Rail service and storage shed. The last 2 years it has been modified to become a new Metro Rail passenger station, with access to Key Bank Center and Canalside, and with rail work approaching completion the upper floors are proposed to be fitted for commercial or recreational use, including its riverside 40,000 square foot deck.

New York Central Terminal

Terminal has been undergoing extensive stabilization an weatherproofing, with many inferior sections refurbished to date. The State is kicking in $61M to finish out the main concourse with to be followed by an RFP to complete development.

Cars Sharing Main Street

Ongoing work to restore 2-way traffic to Main Street, which became a pedestrian and rail only road in the 1980s, and by the 1990s became a failure as retail and businesses closed. restoration of many sections to date has been followed by recovery of commercial and entertainment, and addition of thousands of residents.

Penrose NY Developer LLC working with GSD Urban Solutions and the Westminster Economic Development Initiative beat out two other proposals for the two-acre site Aud Block site. Plans call for 367 residences with half of them restricted as affordable. Buildings along the canal would be four to five stories and 10 to 14 stories on the north along the Niagara Thruway I-190.

Is that not right across from the Heritage Point project? The combined effect of both will be enormous! Canalside might finally be becoming a thing!

Nemo Development has dusted off plans for 26 townhouses in Lake Front Commons. A previous design for the project was rejected due to the final units not matching those constructed in the 1980s.

Jemal is dropping plans for a hotel in the Statler- so residential count goes from 334 to 558 units, is getting rid of parking on the lower levels and only adding parking in the basement, and is putting 126,000 sq.ft. of office space on the mezzanine and second floors (so much for office space demand being 'dead').

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum (formerly Albright-Knox Gallery) has reopened after its 4-year closure for remodeling of its existing buildings, and the addition of its new Gundlach building, Albright Bridge, Common Sky/Town Square, and Great Lawn (replacing former parking lot with underground parking).

That's actually a pretty significant amount of units now. That'll be a decent boost to downtown's residential population.

The revised Statler plan has been re-revised, as the plan submitted to the city was an earlier revision. The final plan will have 443 apartments and 218 hotel rooms.
