This building is...a giant blue stick. Really underwhelming for the city and nation’s tallest.

IMO not anymore than Sears or the original WTC were underwhelming as city/world's tallest buildings.

You could say Hong Kong's tallest is just a giant blue box or Shanghai's tallest is just a giant green tornado.

The Burj Khalifa looks cool though, though the rest of Dubai not so much.

Overall I think this fits NYC pretty well. Hopefully taller ones come along.

The problem is, it has no exclamation point. It’s too plain, even with the awkward massing. The Sears Tower, the WTC, the Empire State, they all wore a hat, be it an antenna, spire, or whatever, that put an exclamation point on top of the great height that said “ look at me, I am proud, and I am tall, and worthy of such great height.” It’s almost sinful not to have it, especially in New York. I’m sure the crown, when it’s lit, will look decent. But it is not enough. There’s really nothing memorable about this tower. In a city with so many giants, it won’t capture the imagination, as the Empire State and the Twin Towers did when I was a child.
