I love the Ruby City architecture. If you haven't had the opportunity to check it out in person, make it a point to go...although covid may have them shut down for the time being.

the room looks great, love the size of the windows and the view you get. Can you grabs some pics of the restaurant/bar area that juts over the riverwalk. I'm interested to see how that turns out. Also, is there a pool deck?

3rd floor bar and water feature deck will be among the very last things completed, but will keep you posted.

this hotel will definitely be one of the final four team's hotel in 2025. I can already see the booster parties on that overhang

New hotel tower and restaurants coming soon to Commerce Street

https://sanantonioreport.org/canopy-...itte-building/
SA Report
by Shari Biediger
February 9, 2021

At the corner of a short city block eclipsed by construction activity in recent years, a towering modern hotel is nearing completion while its historic neighboring structures get a second life.

The 22-story Canopy by Hilton Hotel, located at East Commerce and North St. Mary’s streets, was expected to be completed in the fall. Instead, the 195-room hotel should open in late March or April, developer and restaurateur Chris Hill said, nearly four years after construction began.

But another Hill project – about 50 steps to the west – is closer to making its debut. The historic stone and brick Witte Building has been completely restored, and on the river and street levels of the building, a new restaurant and bar are set to open in the coming weeks.

Hill, who also owns the Esquire Tavern next door to the Canopy hotel, said he is looking forward to presenting to San Antonio what his group has been working on the past four years even if it means opening during a pandemic that has waylaid the city’s previously thriving hospitality sector.

Opening next Thursday... make your reservations now to spend the night, or to check out the restaurant and bar.

Riverwalk restaurant “Domingo” and third floor terrace bar “Otro” are on opentable for reservations.

One thing that could have made this hotel much cooler is to have an outdoor pool facing the Riverwalk. The last last deck before the guest rooms would have been a perfect spot. If done then would've been the first pool in view on the Riverwalk.

Try the Hampton Inn on Soledad or the Drury Inn. You can also see the River from the Mokara pool, but that’s a little higher.

‘It’s like conducting a symphony.’ Building downtown poses unique set of challenges

https://saheron.com/canopy-hilton-bu...wn-challenges/

When a construction team drilled the 120-foot foundation of the Canopy by Hilton hotel, which opens today on the River Walk, they found a cable line that wasn’t on any of the city’s utility maps, running straight across the property.

The dumpsters really add a nice touch to the plain concrete wall. Everything about that corner is very inviting.

Aaaaahhh hello, I believe those are recycling bins waiting for pick up once a week, and then rolled back INSIDE the hotel.
Sooooooo, take it from there Mr. Boston!
GREAT movie clip by the way!

Ha! Thoughtful design on the architect's part to have them placed on the corner once a week.

I like the building. I just don't like that ground floor corner. I never have. Oh well. Can't have everything.
