When I drove past the Santa Monica side of the site at ~1:30p, I saw through the open gate that trucks appeared to be loading dirt and a flagman was ready to stop traffic, presumably to allow trucks to exit. I had not seen activity for months before today. The timing may have been coincidental, but more hopefully perhaps it shows enthusiasm to resume site prep as quickly as possible?

What’s the tallest building in Beverly Hills right now? Excluding elevation.

Not sure, but there's several in the 12-16 story range. One of those lol. It's similar to DC really, just less buildings.

Might be the old Great Western savings building (the oval building on Wilshire), maybe 16 floors? Now called something else (Great Western went out of bus. decades ago). About time BevHills got a couple of real skyscrapers, even if they are right next to Century City.

^ Do you mean the Flynt Publications building on Wilshire and La Cienega?

Could be my favorite proposal in greater LA and incredible to have this approved and them for to be shooting for a 2021 groundbreaking (if plans haven't changed from the EIR)
Very cool project. 2100+ parking spaces is insane though especially with the Purple Line extension on the way, but at least it'll be subterranean which drastically helps with the aesthetics. Still not great from an urbanist perspective. Also, hard to tell in the renderings but hopefully they'll go with more sustainable, drought tolerant landscaping. Otherwise the plants look a bit excessive considering the environment we live in.

Yes, that is correct. What is now the Flynt Publications building (I couldn't remember the name) used to be the Great Western Savings headquarters building, and I do believe it is still the tallest building in BevHills. Is the statue of John Wayne still out front? Wayne made a few TV commercials for Great Western in the 1970s, and GW put a statue of him out front when he passed.

^ Oh wow. I didn't realize there was a theatre as part of the overall built stadium structure! So many performance venues in LA.

Any word on the Crossroads Hollywood project?

It would certainly be transformative to that stretch of Sunset, which looks like something out of a Zombie movie at the moment. Really impressive project!

I didn't see any site prep a month ago when I was last in the area, but hoping there's some rumblings at least in planning stages.

They keep posting a bunch on their social media pages which I take it as a good sign, but I haven't heard of anything more definitive than that. Crossing my fingers as well.

Burbank by Gehry aka the Warner Bros office building

Onni's Hollywood conversion of a bank building at Hollywood and Cahuenga which is next door to their proposed ground up office building.

The smaller restaurant next to the building is what will be demolished for their office building

Onni's Santa Monica bl 7 story in Hollywood is on it's 2nd floor. It was stalled for over a year as a ground pit. Glad this one is moving along

San Pedro....why not?

Am I the only one who sees development potential in San Pedro? I see a Long Beach potential here along the busy harbor. Lots of people like port cities. I see a skyline a decade or two ahead, mid rise and high rise apt/condo towers mostly. With a little sprucing up "San Pete" could be a desirable place to live and work. L.A.'s Yokohama/ Valparaiso. The Palos Verdes hills behind the city make for an attractive backdrop. Need some bold developer(s) to see the potential. Also need better rail transit connection to rest of city to move things along, and better regulation of ship diesel to improve air quality.

Since I first moved to Hollywood in 1997 I have been wanting that old bank building on Hollywood and Cahuenga to be redeveloped and repurposed, but I do not see anything that indicates Onni has any plans for it? Is there something out there that indicates it is being converted into residential or updated office space?

For those like myself who did not know about the Gehry project in Burbank, it's a seven- and nine-floor development rising up to 140 ft. tall and providing 800,000 sq. ft. of office space for Warner Bros. near their existing lot on the 134 Freeway. Here are a couple renderings:

The tower in Koreatown is rising fast. Now on it's 7th or 8th floor. It will be 34 stories.
