Noticed that the empty lot adjacent to Go-GO Gymnastics (Former Frank's F & C) on 2NC has sold. No idea what is planned but believe it is zoned commercial

The Neil's farm and related apartment building proposals were approved by council this evening.

Also....the Leafs lose again.

No surprise on either count.

Noticed that they are clearing a rather large lot on the vacant land on the northside of 2NC but just west of the Cliffe-2NC corner

That's another Colpitts strip mall development I believe.

I noticed a new-ish sign advertising space for rent at 2NC Smart Centres (Walmart/Kent/CT). It could just be for the old GNC outlet, but I wonder if they might be preparing to build one of the new buildings there? IMO they need to get more slots available there to make it more appealing to smaller businesses.

Lots of new housing in this month's PAC agenda:

This development at the end of Murray avenue looks interesting. Otherwise it is mostly more subdivisions in Brookside West.

I was at the last ECMAs in Fredericton (though I had to sneak in). Looking forward to going as an adult and legally this time around.

It's certainly going to be a boon for the city. Being the first in-person ECMAs in 3 years (at that point) will certainly bring in more attention, and more pressure to put on a good show. I'm sure the city will put on a great show nonetheless.

Thank goodness for the city convention centre.

According to the local newspaper, the Province government will announce the details of a new courthouse for Freddy this summer. They have narrowed the location down from approx 15 to a few but not ready to announce yet. Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure promises construction to begin this year with completion by 2025.

Good news. Freddy deserves a modern courthouse too, especially since it is the capital. It must go downtown.

Downtown....I agree. Pleased they are going to address the courtroom fiasco but don't have a lot of faith that the location will the correct one. Ideally, the province would cut a deal with the Irvings to have the new courthouse as part of a larger project located on the former Acadian Bus Terminal property on the corner of Regent and King/Queen. My sense is that they will opt for a non-downtown location due to $$$$ and then try and "sell" the idea to the community. Likely did not even ask the city for their input

I think there's not much of a chance that the 15 (!) locations they started out with were all downtown.

Also - and only peripherally connected - is there an update on the Centennial Building development? Has anyone heard how that is progressing?

There's workers onsite today. They'll probably get going this year.

Noticed that the empty lot next to Wendys on Main has sold again. Maybe this time something will get built.

I note that a DG article states the new Mayor, Downtown F'ton Inc., Northside Business and F'ton Chamber of Commerce all advocate for a downtown location of the new courthouse.

Every reader comment is suggesting another (cheaper?!) location (Hanwell, 2NC, ...) while one reader decries the construction/location of the skate park.

The former Speedy Glass property on Union is for sale and is being marketed as a redevelopment opportunity. It's zoned for 20 units or 24 with underground parking.
