I am convinced that they left it sparse and only cost was pavement because they don't intend on it remaining in this state.
Meaning they're planning on building the residential tower sooner rather than later.
My hopes anyway.
What are the columns at the base being clad in? Looks like some sort of stone?

Street furnishings and trees are being installed as we speak. I think the plaza is going to be really nice when they are one. There are planters, small tables and chairs and other items being staged there now. It will be great to have the sidewalks on 3 sides returned to use after 2 years.
Walked by through this today and my god has the Market East redevelopment changed this area. It’s hard to overstate how awesome this is. You can now walk the pedestrian path from Market through to the new park. The pedestrian path is very quaint and has soooooo much potential.
The only strange thing, as you can see in the last photo, is that the park only has entrances on the sides. I suspect this was done for security but it feels strange when you walk by the park. You have to look for a bit for an entrance the first time you go.
Funny that is called a park. A very pleasant plaza, yes, but a park it is most certainly not.

much, much better. This has been a long time coming. Hopefully it leads to better retail activity along chestnut because its a mess right now.
It’s really striking when looking south from 11th and Ludlow. On the right you’ve got the organic market, Jefferson’s new building, and the very posh Market East redevelopment. On your left, other than the Honeygrow, it’s quite dingy. It’s a wild contrast now that the Jefferson building is mostly finished.
If I worked in the area I'd become attached to that lovely little plaza lol. Great lunch spot. Is another tower a sure thing?
Nothing is a sure thing in this environment so I would assume this will be here for a few years. Since I work nearby I can tell you that before the East Market development there was really little usable gathering space outdoors to eat lunch east of City Hall. There is a nice plaza near Jefferson but there arent a ton of places to sit and its often packed with med students on nice days. But nothing was near market street- so this will be a hit since its a lot more space than whats a block north.
