I like it but they need to get rid of that fire-station for some peace and quiet.

Haha ya but without them this whole design is a little drab. But all in all this a great development. It will be so nice to see the streetscape filling in on that strip.

Lol totally agree it's fantastic. Still surprised they wouldn't go for a hotel on Osborne though. Wonder if P3 is just hotel-averse.

To make way for the new development, wondering whether the old OV Inn will be demolished or will be built as an addition to the current building?

Agreed. That fire station is hell on traffic & pedestrian life, too. If anything, they should rebuild the station directly at Confusion Corner & utilize all of the connections. That way, optimal coverage is acheived.

According to the PDF document here:

https://www.winnipeg.ca/infrastructu...cture-plan.stm

The fire station that you want to move (Station 4 at 150 Osborne) and the ambulance station further down at 524 Osborne (Station 30) will both be closed and consolidated at a new location on Mulvey East.

When that happens, the city should also sell the lot beside old Black Rabbit. Then spread those light boxes throughout the strip and add more streetscaping in that style.

Mulvey East? Like that little half-block near the River City Car Wash, right after the Osborne underpass?

That seems like a bad location for emergency services, since it would exit into a frequently backed-up underpass... no? Also, right next to the river, which in a flood-prone city isn't where I'd put the first responders...

It's a stone's throw from a major intersection with routes going in 5 directions, so I'd say its a pretty good spot. Yes Osborne gets backed up during rush hour but that really isn't any different than what happens at the current firehouse location.

^One can't assume emergency services were not consulted about possible locations as well.

Well it's been closed for 3 years so that's long gone.

True. I used to frequent the basement quite a bit when I was younger.

Live music really isn't happening in the village but that just goes with the changing scene in that area. It's condoland now and honestly that's okay, because the culture just shifts to other areas, it doesn't disappear.
