Impressive shot of the fin. Saw the west side Light on route to work this morning. Could land a 747 by that light. Could not believe how strong it is.

That's some pretty neat scaffold they have up on the eastside! Building looks good. Maybe they'll have the outside done before winter.

Amazing that they went this long without beacons... and no planes smashed into it. Sort of makes you wonder how necessary they are?

If the St. Regis project is still alive, they're probably waiting to see whether this thing fills up. I wonder how many other developers are doing the same?

And on the west side, they're actually getting the corner glazed and closed in. That strip has been sitting open for weeks or months.

Even if they weren't mandated, a small cost to avoid a low probability/catastrophic severity event seems well worth it. Best to avoid Black Swans in your black tower.

Looks really tall when you can't see the bottom.

I tried to tour this apartment back in June. Leasing agent said that they would be doing tours starting in July, with leases beginning October. That now seems dangerously close considering they're still getting it closed in.

I wonder if they're planning to start filling it from the bottom while they work on the top?

It’s crazy nice in there, almost seems wildly out of place for Winnipeg. Hope this raises the bar for other developers to realize we totally can and should have nice things here.

Just saw this posted on facebook:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOpaNJfOPvw

Aside from some nice drone footage of 300 main it begins with the claim it is the "tallest DEALTABEAM structure in the world".

Can anyone add any information on this? It's obviously a promotional video for "Dealtabeam", which, according to my brief internet search, is some kind of pre-fab structure. Could this be why the build ended up taking so long?

Deltabeams are a shallow "flush" type proprietary steel beams that lend themselves well to hollowcore floor systems. They also include built-in fire resistance that result in next to no downward protrusion of floor support beams - creating a very flat and uniform ceiling, and the ability to build quickly and efficiently.

Piekko would never be accused of being a supplier that can provide product quickly - but they would not likely be related to any delays on this project.
