Landmark Cinemas is a new build, but I haven't been there. Is it a more modern facility?

It's pretty modern. The seats are nice and can be turned into two-person, cuddle couches. Too bad the location make it the least accessible in the city.

It is a nice building and facility, just the worst bathroom entrance design. Single file in which is so frustrating and truly makes no sense for flow in and out. I would love a Landmark Cinemas VIP Downtown (smaller theatres) to compliment the stadium style seating in the east.

I would love to see a cinema downtown again but it would also be great if Rainbow does in fact close, for Landmark to take over that property. They have a number of former Magic Lantern theatres and I believe their only presence in Saskatchewan is one theatre each in Regina and Saskatoon.

Okay okay, let's find something we can all agree on: a new 15,000-person hockey arena should be built on the site of the old Rainbow Cinemas.

It's a pretty busy transit hub so it has decent service in that respect. I don't think it would fit without leveling a lot of the current businesses. I would miss Fat Burger. I don't go often, but I do like it.

Le Chateau and Suzy Shier were both original tenants in Cornwall Centre. Welcome back.

I thought Le Chateau went bankrupt. Did they get sold and resurrected?

As per the linked story from CBC (dated November 16, 2021), Suzy's Inc., the owner of Suzy Shier, has purchased Le Chateau's intellectual property.

Maybe they can fill the basement space with Zellers with new direct stairs heading down from the 11th Avenue Hudson’s Bay entrance. Food items in the basement too.

Rainbow Cinemas has announced they will close. Rumour is Sept 25 but the article doesn't say that.

That's a shame, I have good memories going there when it was $2. I will always remember going to The Blair Witch Project there with a pretty packed theatre. However, I haven't been there for years so of course I am part of the problem. I always intended to take my kids there but never got around to it.

The article makes a good point about being cheaper than Blockbuster back in the day. Really shows how streaming services have made watching movies much much cheaper than in the past. Big screen TVs and home theatres are also much cheaper than they used to be as well.

It's really too bad. Friends and I would do a double-feature style night where we would get tickets to two different movies (usually 7ish and 10ish showtimes) and spend the entire evening there with usually a 30-45 minute break between films. It was a great way to spend a frigid winter night with nothing else to do.

Ardene in Grasslands is shutting down. Not a real loss. Still two other stores in the city selling their cheap, fast fashion. It didn't make sense for them to have a store in Southland and Grasslands, but I guess they aren't the only one.

Agreed, no big loss! Hopefully something better fills the space.
