OK I've got a stupid question. . . I've just spent the last hour searching for this and I can't find a definitive height figure for the tall structure. . . anyone??? Also, how many floors are in that thing???

^ Good question. I don't think I've ever seen a figure for number of floors.

The core is finally growing again! Hopefully it won't take this long for each level.

I can’t get the direct link to post the pictures when I’m on my phone, but this same twitter account I’ve been sourcing updates from posts new photos almost everyday. He’s got a great vantage from Vista Homes.

Always interesting to learn you were blocked by someone you are pretty sure you never had an interaction with before LOL probably the 1 and only time I ever replied to someone about the Obama Library and said I didn't think putting it in Jackson Park was the end of the world.

It seems like the ground floor of this complex will be at least a floor above street level from what I can tell. For instance, when riding by on the train the “underground” garage can be seen rising above street level seemingly to the height of a 2 story building. This isn’t a total surprise, but it is taller than I was expecting.

On another note, the Obama Center posted a construction update last week that I found interesting:

In the lower level of the parking garage, piping from the geothermal wells that were drilled at the start of construction are being extended and collected together in a set of “manifolds” that will support all of the Center’s heating and cooling equipment.

Pretty cool that they’re using geothermal. I wasn’t aware of that before.

The upper level parking garage was always going to rise above street level, but it will be buried in a new landform so it should look like a hill.

I really hope the FFE of the museum ground floor is not higher than Stony Island sidewalk, though. It will be very uninviting if the building looms over the street with a raised plaza. The rendering on the OPC website shows an essentially flat plaza, although I'm sure there is subtle slope for drainage.

It seems like it will be elevated a little, but the height of the garage surprised me and I probably overreacted. I’m still confused about the wall going up right next to Cornell Drive East of the biggest crane. What is that wall? It seems too far out to be the museum. Or am I misjudging the size of the building? I had just jumped to the conclusion that it was another “underground” wall and the ground level was going to be raised to that height. If not, I’m at a loss as to what that is.
