I’m not super fond of the architecture of this tower but love love love how gargantuan it looks from Marin or the East Bay. It looms. Seeing a tower double the height of the Bay Bridge towers along with the expanded SOMA and Rincon Hill skyline is amazing.

Still in my top 2 for skylines in the US.

I think out of the recent crop of supertalls outside of NYC and Chicago (Comcast, Wilshire Grand, Salesforce), Salesforce definitely stands out the most in their respective skylines. The other 2 seem to get lost in the shuffle a bit, and don't really form any natural peak to the skyline, probably because there are other skyscrapers at similar heights nearby. With Salesforce, it has definitely enhanced the skyline, and dominates it such that it can be viewed from all across the City. I've lost track of how many times I've turned the corner and Salesforce is peeking out from over the crest of a hill. Salesforce also has the best street level interaction of the 3, in addition to having the Salesforce Park connected to it.

Architecturally speaking, I can see why people don't love it, especially considering it's not totally original in design, and in comparison to the original SOM competing design. That being said, I think the glass and the metal framework around the windows provides at least an interesting texture that is dynamic in the way it changes the look with every angle. However, I've always maintained that 181 Fremont is the star of the show when it comes to the current generation of SF skyscrapers.

The focus of these photos is on 50 Fremont, but they also happen to showcase the underrated, intricate facade of Salesforce.

I love Salesforce tower. I think it looks fantastic and is very fitting in the San Francisco skyline. It's design is simplistic yet elegant.

hb, they need to come up with a sexy new light show for the top of the building. From what I've seen, since covid it's been totally blah (except for the now-annual "Eye of Sauron" Halloween thing).
