For added context, this is the Block A project that is underway:

It's officially Uptown ATX. The ABJ has an extensive article, and we have names for some of the buildings:

Quote:
One Uptown, which is already under construction, is a mixed-use project proposing to bring 348,000 square feet of office, 15,000 square feet of ground-level retail and 341 apartment units online. The project’s residential component would measure 379,000 square feet.

Brandywine stated One Uptown’s price tag is $328 million and is being developed as part of a joint venture it entered with Los Angeles-based Canyon Partners Real Estate LLC.

Brandywine confirmed there are several high-profile tenants interested in the office space, but no one has committed to a lease yet.

The next project up for development would be The Chase at Uptown, a two-building apartment project that would bring 529 apartment units to the 66-acre master-planned site.

Skyrise would be the crown jewel of Uptown ATX – two office towers rising above the entire development and matching other buildings being built at The Domain and adjacent to nearby Q2 Stadium. One Skyrise, the taller of the two buildings, would be 25 stories high and offer 750,000 square feet of office. The neighboring Two Skyrise would be 19 stories high with 550,000 square feet of office.

Also from the ABJ. The IBM buildings will be demolished.

Quote:
The structures currently on campus were built in the 1980s and will be demolished as part of the Uptown ATX development, but not before One Uptown, The Chase at Uptown ATC and Skyline towers are completed.

Can they not just keep ONE of them for history’s sake?

Bummer bro, bummer.

looks like the paywalled abj article is free to read on brandywines website

https://www.brandywinerealty.com/con...austins-second.

with the proximity to rail, and awesome number of amenities in a dense area i really wished we would be seeing more of a pedestrian focus between here, the domain and development around the stadium. doesn't seem to be happening

I believe the plan is to have Palm Way be extra pedestrianized, including a linear park along part of it. That’s on Brandwine’s side, of course, Domain side hopefully is improved as well.

Then the red line urban trail will connect from uptown to around the stadium.

Yep, spot on. To me this is, once again, the reason why the idea that all of this is a second downtown rings so hollow. It's just not . . . because it's not really connected on any realistic human scale.

I think the redevelopment of the Burnet/Braker intersection is going to improve things greatly, but that's only one end of what's turning out to be a pretty huge district. I hope that we're able to expand that quickly to include . . . pretty much everything along Burnet.

This uptown site is already under construction. Couldn't get pictures, just passing by but it's well underway!

interesting detail from that interactive brochure. They have a section on Location, and put Austin's center of population at about Mopac and 360 (pretty close to Uptown ATX as you might imagine).

That's quite a bit further north than the census puts Travis Counties center of population. Still seems possible for city of Austin population, since Austin has quite a bit in Williamson and almost no residents in Hays.

The same basic population center was thrown around when Q2 was being pitched in the area.

A new area in the old IBM campus is fenced off. It is almost all the way north to Gault Ln. and extends from Burnet all the way to about where the current buildings are. Any ideas what this is for?

It it by chance the location pictured at the top-right of this site plan (NW corner)?

If so it could be the Chase at Uptown residential complex

It could be, but looking at the map, it appears to be where the street John S. Chase Trail is. It may be a precursor to the Chase for construction access since Gault Ln. can't really be closed down.
Do neither of those residential buildings have retail there? They could capture a lot of people who then wouldn't have to cross Burnet to get to dining etc...
