The awkward, subtle slope on those towers drives me insane. Why bother? The structure/mass already has soooo much going on.

Also, let's hope that parapet is still being finished. That combo of what looks like glazing and screen is no bueno.

These are what I imagine the FIDI will look like after the next big one.

the work in the courtyard

brick cladding has gone up around the base of the tower, which I think has helped a bit. nice wide sidewalk along Mary Alley (I don't know what that thing in the middle of the sidewalk is - I didn't notice it when I was there)

Howard St sidewalk also almost done

Thursday night I was startled to see the building brightly lit in my view. Is this how it will be lit? Too much lighting for my taste. Tonight, Friday night at 12:30 am, I do not see any lights. [for those new to the site it is the building on the far right]

Pleasantly surprised with that lighting. I think the way it kind of falls downward is a good look.

I also noticed the brand new lights last night

Like whitty said, I love how the light falls downward. Great addition to the skyline!

Thank you gillynova for those nice nighttime pics. This buliding is interesting. I kinda like it and i kinda don't. I can' t decide if i like the Light/white stripey part of it and then i see it all lit up and like I am diggin it. " I always wanted to pretend i was an architect" but even this design confuses this novice. Austin! Here we come!

Not terrible, not spectacular either. But it looks like it'll get the job done. I like the lighting as well, and am excited to see how the Mary Court park will turn out.

M2 aka "The George" , 434 Minna Street should open today

I've been lurking around here a while, but as a member of the design team on M2 I'm excited to see that it's opening it's doors this week to add some needed affordable housing in the area. I live in Portland now, but grew up in Antioch and my time in the city (which was as often as possible) was always an influence on how I look at architecture. I'm proud to have been a part of the team to bring M2 to the city.

Welcome to the forum! Thank you for the information today and hopefully someone on this forum will be able to check it out soon. Hopefully you're able to contribute to not only in the San Francisco overall forums (https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/tag...=san+francisco) but to Portland's as well! Cheers

Leasing Begins For The George At 434 Minna Street, SoMa, San Francisco
BY: ANDREW NELSON 5:30 AM ON JANUARY 19, 2022

Brookfield Properties has announced that leasing is underway for The George, a residential tower at 434 Minna Street in SoMA, San Francisco. The 20-story apartment building is a part of the 5M development, which has changed four acres of former surface parking into a mixed-use pedestrian-oriented complex. 5M is being developed by a partnership with Brookfield and Hearst.

According to Brookfield, “the George derives its name from the boutique Hotel George that welcomed guests since the 1930s, and is now today the Chieftain Building.” Prices for the publicly available apartments right now rent for between $2,675 to $5,785 per month. Unit sizes range from 387 to 1,052 square feet each.

The 249-foot tall structure contains 310,490 square feet with 225,090 square feet for residential use, 9,140 square feet for amenities, 4,600 square feet for ground-level retail, 26,550 square feet for two below-grade levels of parking for 52 cars, and 1,590 square feet for bicycle parking.

Of the 302 units, there are 71 studios, 103 one-bedrooms, and 128 two-bedrooms. There are 91 units priced below the market rate, targeting middle-income renters earning between 100-150% of the Area Median Income.
