How soon until Metro Chicago includes SW Michigan?

I often drive thru NW Indiana and SW Michigan and have noticed more and more new housing developments and commercial development that seem like Chicagoland spillover. Do you think it’s possible Chicago’s MSA may swallow up a portion of SW Michigan by 2030?

The Blue Water from New Buffalo takes 1:21. If sped up a bit (and... more importantly, made reliable) and with a commuter-friendly schedule, I could see a significant number of commuters. Right now the schedule sucks for commuting (although possibly there are people who drive to Michigan City and take the SSL in).

Milwaukee will probably become part of the CSA before SW Michigan.

If they ever build a high speed train to Milwaukee and Madison, Milwaukee could be a commuter suburb of Chicago.

More like, they're all part of the Great Lakes "Megaregion" of which Chicago is the capitol.
