"The North Loop neighborhood will get a new hotel next year dubbed The Hewing Hotel.
The project has been in the works since last year. Plans that passed through the Heritage Preservation Commission in January called for 126 rooms and a roughly 6,000-square-foot restaurant and bar. The hotel would also have a one-story rooftop addition for hotel amenities, a 3,150-square-foot rooftop deck and an outdoor pool. The project includes significant rehabiliation of the historic 1897 Jackson Building.
The Hewing Hotel is set to open next year, according to Aparium Hotel Group's website. "The Hewing Hotel adds another chapter to Minneapolis’ rich culture and a new benchmark for the Twin Cities’ hotel offerings," it reads.
Tim Dixon of Fe Equus Development, who owns the Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee where the company is based, is planning the boutique hotel concept. He told The Journal last year that the restaurant on the hotel's ground floor will be run by Chicago-based chef Suzy Crofton".
