Would not be surprised to see this building filled with media and media-related companies.

Ooh, me likey!

Love the design, it's really beautiful, and those trail/shore improvements would be fantastic.

Facade is very similar to the new Disney HQ in NYC https://newyorkyimby.com/2022/08/dis...manhattan.html

This looks like it would be the most high-caliber boutique office space in the city by a good margin.

Love the green accents. You'd think there would be more of that in Austin.

The parkspace looks a lot like the latest phase of the Hunters Point Park in Queens/LIC. Definitely some hometown inspiration for KPF in this project. Looks great!

Could you imagine the uproar this would have caused 10 years ago? The first time since The Hyatt itself that a building will be this close to the waterfront.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for this, not only is it a gorgeous building (and green is my favorite color) but it looks to really improve in a major way the trail and looks like an interesting feature? I do have some questions zoomed in as to if they are planning a new boardwalk and is it 2 levels??? Also seems a bit stretched more than it really is from where the bridge is to the Hyatt.. Either way, it's much better than what is currently there.

The two level trail system is pretty sus. There are points of the lower trail that pass under the upper trail with near zero headroom. It might just be interpretation errors by the renderers though. I like that KPF included Waterline.

It appears 901 S Congress is that old house across from the Texas School for the Deaf.

Love everything about the building except the green trim. It seems to clash.

BUt, it is sooooooo much better looking than that parking lot next to the Hyatt. I would assume this means the parking lot betweenthe Hyatt and the Embassy will become a parking tower, or maybe this will push the Hyatt into Expanding and buuilding a new tower with more room and elevated parking.

EDIT----
whoops. I haven't been in that area in ages. (I used to work at the Embassy Suites 20+ years ago, and actually lived a block away for about 3 years)
That parking lot is now a Yeti flagship store...

so now I have to wonder how the Hyatt will handle their parking situation?!?!?

I clearly have not been in my old neighborhood in a while...

Which makes me wonder, is Aussie's still in business?

It is. However, it's only a matter when (not if) it will be redeveloped.

[QUOTE=Syndic;9726166]Does anyone know anything about this project? This statesman story is behind a paywall so I can't read it.

This is the archived version of the Statesman article (no paywall.)

15-story office tower planned on south shore of Austin's Lady Bird Lake

The article also has a rendering of the second project at 901 S. Congress Ave.

Please, for the love of god... why would they waste this prime real estate with a mere 15-story building?! They should get inspiration from the new Google building and make this shit way taller.

Isn't there currently a height cap in that area?
