Pretty impressive skyline for a smaller city. I'm sure having the HQ of a major global corporation like Caterpillar there is the main reason (not to mention Komatsu America, Caterpillar's biggest competitor).
Also, that bubble-letter South Side Bank sign is completely ridiculous.

Actually, Komatsu is headquarted in suburban Chicago. But, one of it's key mining divisions has completely overhauled and expanded it's large plant footprint on Peoria's Near Northside riverfront.
About that South Side Bank sign.... " LOL.... What do you do? " . Peoria City Hall has a controversial zoning and ordinance history of allowing such , tacky, signage. There was a spate, during the 1990's, when all the big banks visibly competed with each other for local business. Hence, the emergence of such signage.
thats a kick ass city hall Peoria has got there. I want it.
great pics!
IT, just over a month ago, completed an expensive renovation to it's Council Chambers to make it's usage more current and wheelchair-accessible. But, that's nice of you to say that about it! It's, strangely enough, one of those historic structures that's been around so long that most of us take it for granted.
Wow, I didn't expect to see this thread come back. But then I guess an SSPer named PEORIA has not only a right, but also a duty to get it going again!!!!
