Not I. I will happily take what is rendered. It looks decent and I don’t care if it’s a beige turd. That isn’t River North, it’s Streeterville, and that lot is just a goddamn eyesore.

There are 2 lots that continue to get these false starts that are “just about” to start construction and nothing ever happens. This lot, and the lot that was going to house the Mandarin Hotel. Lots of talk and no action.

It’s time for action

You should care, it's garbage. Since when is replacing an eyesore with an eyesore a best use?

for better or worse, foundation permits have been filed for 150 E Ontario and are going through the steps towards issuance.

Well, it's 354 N Union. The developer is Onni, while K2's developer is Fifield. So there's no marketing synergy between the two properties.

They both used Pappageorge Haymes as architect though, so there may be some stylistic similarities in the site planning and the curtain wall.

I expect Onni will choose a new name for the tower, though - "354 N Union" isn't very snappy, and it leads people to a glorified alley behind the building when the main access point is on Halsted.

I bet they''ll go with something like "The Union on Halsted"

After learning about the city's pending permits feature, I've been checking which highrises will start construction soon. 741 N Wells and 193 N Columbus ('Site O') both have pending permits, so they should be starting soon
