crews were on the Esplanade Riel installing the new multi-coloured LEDs when i strolled over mid afternoon. that'll be a nice touch for that bridge finally. was quite the feat witnessing them dangling over the edge of the former restaurant portion to get to those fixtures.

Bridgwater Centre updates

Glad to see efforts of densification are slowly coming to fruition. Now can we just please build all our suburbs like Bridgwater Centre, Sage Creek Village, and Park City Commons from now on?

yup we did notice that. was shocked at grocery prices, that's one area they were typically always cheaper than us. (I'm not talking junk food, on that maybe they still cheaper, not sure)

Getting a mid rise in the suburbs next to a grocery store and high school is all that matters for this project. Frankly none of the aesthetic matters as long as the building does it’s job increasing pedestrian activity on Jefferson. Design is subjective after all (although I do slightly agree with your opinion on the building but wouldn’t go that far lol).

It’s amazing that it’s a structural concrete building, which equals quiet for the tenants, most 6 story mid rises these day are made of wood, so from a quality point of view it’s very good, regardless of design

Good point on the concrete construction. I don't get mid rise close to high school? Taste is subjective. I'm glad that most don't share my sentiments on the design (which is pure aesthetic than economical) Something that is based in economics is the two thirds of the parking being on the surface. That begs to question what's the point of erecting a midrise with so little lot coverage? The same could be done with townhouses or stacked townhouses that cover the entire site.

Concrete construction doesn't mean anything for quiet if sounds travels through the ducts, plumbing, under doors through the hall. Sound travels through metal like crazy. I moved to a higher floor in a concrete building and my new neighbours are not quiet.

So if I understand this correctly, the midrise isn't actually any more dense than the same number of townhouse units on the parcel would be because the rest of the site is dedicated to parking. Is is conceivable that some of that parking could one day become a second mid rise on the same parcel?

I notice the rendering shows the building is gated off. Bleak

It would be tight with stacked units. There's 80 surface parking stalls.

It's great to see that Fort Richmond is absolutely booming rn. This is an amazing infill location because it has every single amenity you could possibly need in the Fort Richmond Plaza and surrounding commercial strips. Not to mention it is across the street from the Blue Line.

Hot Take: Not only is the area around Fort Richmond Collegiate walkable, but its one of the most walkable areas of the city.
