It's not going to win any pageants but it's still a big step up from the east side and this brick facade will match the Alexan across the highway, and the Mirabeau if that ever happens.
Demo will be delayed until after an archaeological investigation of the site can be done. I would think Demo should happen first so the site can be accessed more easily for digging, but apparently not. No word on the time line.
The head of the Robertson Hill NA spoke against it of course. He wanted a delay and meetings with the developer to discuss stuff like asbestos drifting into the neighborhood and historical things.
Such a lost opportunity. We've got to stop giving small NIMBYs so much power. We know what we need, homes, transit, grocery stores...but fear of change certainly won out here.

The funny thing is the development is still happening, but with considerably less neighborhood interaction. They would have had something that was going to be a great neighborhood asset, but instead, they're getting a vertical gated community with its back to it.

Unfortunately, we are in an age where too many people don't/won't trust/believe professionals. City planning, climate change, vaccines, etc....

The two Demo permits filed to clear the site for this project were approved on Wednesday. I don't know how that jives with the HLC's vote to require an archaeological survey before approving Demo.
I don't have any photos, but there's an excavator sitting on the site currently. Looks like demolition will be starting soon, and I'll try to get photos tomorrow.
Why was AFD there? I would have thought they were assisting in dust control but I don't see any water or wet spots and you wouldn't need two trucks for that.
