Costs and aesthetics aren't worth it. Lets be honest, besides the beautiful 2-3 townhomes through DC, most of the other buildings(4-10 stories) are nothing to write home about. They are either brand new builds or 50-80s monstrosities.

If you added on 20 stories on every 7+ story building in DC, you would have how much more office/residential square feet?

The aesthetics are, of course, my personal opinion, I can see the other side, but I am not entirely convinced.
