Wow, over 1200 units of residential, and an office building, with a substantial amount of underground parking... that far out from major development corridors, and on the frontage road of Ben White? This is a really interesting proposal for more than the buildings themselves. I would love to start seeing developments like this popping up all across town in parts where this isn't the usual development style. Although I suppose these 5-6 story buildings won't be too much of a departure from the countless hotels in that area. Exciting regardless!

This must be pretty close to a Blue Line stop.

Ah, that's it. The proposed location for the Metro Center Station in the schematics posted in the Transportation Thread by The ATX (Post #7665) is the north intersection of Ben White and Riverside.

$500 million Southeast Austin project calls for 4,000 homes, condos and apartments

https://www.statesman.com/story/busi...es/6598687001/

Shonda Novak
Austin American-Statesman

A development group led by Houston-based Hines plans to build a $500 million mixed-use development on 1,400 acres in Southeast Austin. Plans call for more than 2,500 houses, over 1,500 multifamily units and commercial space.
A $500 million development that calls for more than 2,500 houses, 1,500 multifamily units and commercial space is in the works for fast-growing Southeast Austin

The developer is Houston-based Hines, an international real estate firm. Its partners are Vancouver-based Trez Capital, based in, Dallas-Fort Woth-based Caravel Ventures and Tokyo-based Sumitomo Forestry.

The project — which is being called Mirador — will be developed at a cost of more than $500 million, according to Hines executives. The company said financing is in place, but did not provide additional details.

The Hines-led development group said this week that it has closed on the sale of the 1,400-acre site for the project. The property is bounded in part by Pearce and Wolf lanes, south of Texas 71 and near the Texas 130 tollroad. The land was purchased from Qualico. The purchase price was not disclosed.

I would rather we grow that direction and not west further into the hill country. I also hope I don't see you dare complain about housing affordability going forward...

Suburban sprawl is going to keep happening as long as the City of Austin continues to limit residential density in the City. That also means we will continue to see big parking podiums on office towers for all those driving in from the 'burbs.

Yeah agree at least it’s growing south and that area could use some new affordable options.

It's not the location or the amount of housing I'm concerned about. That project could have at least twice as many homes and commercial square footage if it were designed better. If it were to be designed under the principles of walkable urbanism instead of automobile dependent sprawl, residents of the area could walk to the nearby commercial amenities instead of having to drive to them. We know how to do better than this, but we keep getting status quo.

Site plan for multifamily development at 1120 Town Creek Dr off of Lakeshore. Nothing very exciting or surprising. Currently a vacant lot according to Google Maps. Going by the name of South Shore V.

Wow this is good.

Quote:
The site has exceptional ERC as-of-right zoning designation that will allow for high-density mixed-use development.

The site has extremely dense right-of-zoning designations that will allow for more than 2 MSF of mixed-use redevelopment.

The project will feature multifamily, office, and retail located along the Project Connect light rail line.

That's extremely impressive for a site that had previously seemed destined for a bunch of chain motels. Will be a cool gateway into Riverside, and will make Riverside feel more like Austin's front door from the airport.

And of course this is literally being a choosey begger but... I wish they'd go high than 4 stories on the residential portion.
