photobucket sucks, a pro account is waste of money and a free account is useless

So what's the best free account available? tried google's picasa ...I had to delete the program it virtually took over my entire computer (all the images on my hard drive to be more accurate)

I've heard tinypic is good, although haven't tried it. Yeah photobucket isn't the best (the free account) especially with bandwidth (images will not appear; wghich is also on pro). I wouldn't go with Imageshack, horrible horrible service there. Sometimes the servers there will mix up your photos with someoneelse and your photo is lost, other times the servers are down and portions of your photos wont appear, wont load...that has to happen at least a couple times a week. VERY annoying if you are posting these images on forums/blogs/etc.

Honestly it's very hard to find a good free photo storing website...my recommendation is get a flickr account and buy a pro...it's cheaper than photobucket...25 USD. flickr has a nice interface, has large communities/discussions, and the picture quality i've found the best. very nice website.

Good luck!

I just joined Flickr and I agree with this entirely. Honestly, 25USD a year is a very good price for the service. I especially like the ability to tag where you took a photo on the map, so people can see exactly where you took it.

Webshots sucks. Just found that out. haha It does that thing where you'll get the links, post them (correctly of course) and the photos will sometimes show up and other times they won't.

77 photos uploaded for nothing.

I'll try Tinypic. I already have a Flickr and Imageshack account, and yeah, imageshack has all kinds of problems. I used Photobucket for 4 years before they changed the amount of storage. Tinypic is owned by Photobucket by the way.

I used to like Photobucket but in the last month I noticed my uploads looked crappy. Not sure if it's just me or of anyone else noticed it? The colors look fainted compared to the original image and the image is blurry [/less sharp].

I have a Tinypic and I've only used it for large image uploads.

Does anyone know of a free host that allows full sized images? I need one for panoramas. Flickr won't let you have any beyond 1,024 pixels apparently, and Tinypic re-sizes them as well. Right now the only one I know of that allows them is Imageshack, but their service isn't reliable.

The flickr paid account allows you to use the original size.

I haven't really had any troubles with Imageshack for the most part. Occasionally, some pictures don't load and become red Xs, but that's usually by the time a thread has faded into oblivion and fallen to the second page anyway. I set up a free account but I don't use it; the login stuff is just too complicated, as far as I have experienced. In any case, I stick with Imageshack since it's quick and easy to deal with.

Tinypic uploads at 1600x1200 at its largest [I think]. Photobucket and Flickr only go up to 1024x768. I think 1600 os big enough since most computer screens aren't even that wide. Here's an example of how big it can get, which is pretty big for a free upload!

That's weird. I never had any size limits with Photobucket. It was the one host I could rely on to allow full sized images. Maybe they changed the size limit and only allowed older accounts larger images. I signed up almost 4 years ago (in October).

I guess I'll try again with Tinypic. I wish they allowed multiple uploads though. My gripe with them and Flickr too, is that you can't do any mass deleting of images. Only one by one.

Flickr allows (what I have found so far) is 10MP images or 3872x2592 and I assume it goes higher. And I have no concern for mass deletion as I tend to leave all my pics online as it is easy backup.

A Pbase paid account allows 500mb for about $23 USD per year, and I believe more if you want to pay more. You can upload any size you want. The free Pbase account doesn't allow any linking.

Anyone out there having problems with spamming assholes on flickr? lately a couple of winners have been leaving stupid comments with a link to some website (yeah like I'm going to click on it) blocking these clowns is pretty useless because they change their account name daily

I haven't had it happen to me but I've seen a lot of my contact's get it. Sometimes Flickr deletes it, other times you just have to yourself. I haven't seen it happen over-and-over again, just one comment, deleted, and gone forever kinda thing.

Photobucket now even generates [IMG] code for all images selected so you can just paste it here in one step, but now I get the bandwidth exceeded hotlink even though only 14% of it is used.

Just yesterday for the first time I got a spam message saying 'I don't like this picture, mine is better' and I'm pretty sure the accompanying link lead to some porno site.
