If Tribune Tower happens I'm totally ok with this being 900-1000. Hopefully closer to 1000. Hard to tell if the website is showing the new design though based on the podium size. But it definitely looks shorter - about 100 feet taller than One Bennett.

Lame. These towers were already almost too short at 1100' and 850', especially compared to what was originally supposed to be there. What a waste.

Alderman Reilly Reports

Upcoming Community Presentation for 400 North Lake Shore Drive LSD400

Alderman Reilly invites you to join him at an informational presentation regarding the revised development proposal for the property located at 400 North Lake Shore Drive.

As you know, in 2018 Related Midwest proposed a mixed use tower that did not move forward. Over the past several months, the Developer has worked to address the many significant concerns about the hotel use, the tall podium base of the buildings, traffic concerns for East North Water Street, and security issues on the Riverwalk and at DuSable Park.

Related Midwest has submitted a revised proposal for the development of two residential buildings 875' and 765' in height containing approximately 1,100 residential units with ground floor commercial and amenity space.

WHAT: 400 North Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Illinois
WHO: Hosted by Alderman Brendan Reilly and SOAR
WHEN: Tuesday, March 10 at 6:00 pm
WHERE: Intercontinental Hotel Chicago, 505 N. Michigan Avenue

Alderman Reilly works hard to provide an open and transparent community review of all local development proposals. He hopes you can join him to engage in a direct dialogue with the development teams to gain a better understanding of these proposals and receive answers to any questions you may have.

In the meantime, if our office can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact Alderman Reilly's office at 312-744-3062.

This was supposed to be the site of the world's tallest building. Obviously that wasn't going to happen after the crisis, but in the end this will be just another two towers for Chicago in the current boom. No longer iconic. Sad.

This has got be a joke when he rants about one of the greatest skylines but this and salesforce gets chopped with limited world defining lots left. I wouldnt mind these two sitting for another 5-10 years before we get another supertall. Obviously salesforce is going so this better wait.

Just sad to see such a great city constantly being held back like this.

They look uglier too. Cheaper design.

Parcel I better get a huge height bump to make up for this, and Tribune Tower.

I thought the same thing, I'd rather just have this be cancelled.

US cities in general are getting too comfortable with mediocrity. Why not just stack them and build a 1640 footer?

What... the... Fuck...

We waited so long, then we got a 1,100 ft lakeshore drive. It was great. But now this is a real disappointment. Why couldn't they combine the towers into one 1640 ft (499 Meters) Supertall?

I would rather wait another couple of years before we get something actually significant.

At least the design of the towers is pretty much the same.

Such a wasted opportunity on related's part.

Lame! The taller tower will only be a little taller than One Bennett. I'd rather wait as well.

It's not iconic in the least bit.

At least this makes Vista shine even more!

Do you think there will be enough backlash for a redesign?

But it's unlikely since they HAVE to start construction in May, or they lose their zoning.

I also agree with Zapatan since there's gonna be no hotel in 400LSD, Tribune East could take that market up and get that 125ft lost from 400LSD and turn into a 1547 footer.

No, no one cares except for buildings nerds, I wish we lived in a world where people protest for taller buildings but we don't. Sort of the opposite unfortunately.
