I concur! Some of these photos look like they could be in a magazine or coffee table book. A true showcase of a place and culture!

It'll take me a while to go through all of your photos, but I am enjoying what I am seeing so far!

Love it! Was stationed in Tikrit at the airfield across from Al Awja and at Speicher, as well as outside of Mosul (Qayyarah).

These photos are absolutely fascinating. Thank you for posting them. Iraq has experienced so much suffering and pain over the last several decades. Hopefully the people of Iraq can experience better and peaceful times ahead.

Nikon D7100 and the cam embedded in an iPhone 14 Pro, says flickr.

Iraq's map is still in red on the site of the French ministry of foreign affairs, that means no-go zone.
I'm too much of a coward for a trip of that kind anyway.

Is there any way to share some of the images in the thread? I know a few of these buildings and have been to them. There's one pictured that is called Al Farouk (sp?) Palace, for example, that has a US cruise missile still in it. It's part of the Presidential Palace Complex in Tikrit and the Speicher massacre memorial is also located there, which is part of the album too.
The blend of Babylonian and general Middle Eastern architecture is amazing and it's a shame so many were damaged during the invasion, or (mainly) during ISIS.

what an epic tour you did, thank you for posting.

i am happy to see you got to some of the lesser visited places like Samawah, Amarah, and the marshes.

i was stationed at ali air base, right next to Ur.

the photos of damage in Mosul are sad, but I am glad ISIS was defeated. seeing the photos of the repairs to the TV towers in Baghdad makes me happy though, they had a lot of damage when i went there in 2009.
