Again, I did not source these images and videos so I have quoted the users that have done all of the hard work .

Progress along the east alignment of the O-Train expansion:

And a few shots of Place d'Orleans, which will serve as the main transfer point for Orleans bus routes (as it does today).

Rail line is being built in the highway median. Station is going up between the Champlain overpass and the Place d'Orleans Mall/Station/174/Park-and-Ride overpass.

Fare gate entrances to the rails stations will be in the existing pedestrian overpass and Champlain overpass. A third gated entrances will be at ground level at the bus loop. A new pedestrian bridge is being built for fare-paid transfers (bus to train and vis-versa without having to tap your Presto or buy a ticket).

If feasible, this can revolutionize urban commercial transportation.

Edit: I showed this to a friend and he said this:

I've had this idea before, but it needs to be separate from passenger networks, otherwise it will take priority because it is more profitable.

Alberta’s new premier is now pushing for a CTrain link to YYC, in addition to the long proposed Calgary-Banff rail link. The Calgary-Banff rail link is presently awaiting a provincial funding commitment to move onto the next step. Hopefully this translates to funding in the near future.

^indeed... it just got interesting, BUT and as you mention, the province has to essentially underwrite the project at a serious coin to secure Canada Infrastructure Bank money.

And resent polling indicates at YEG YYC link would be better received.

I also look at this as pandering to the Calgary voters again.

Now it's 30 of 45 concrete piers that need fixing on Valley Line Southeast LRT

No updated timeline for repairs in latest update from CEO of TransEd

Mrinali Anchan
----

The wait for the Valley Line Southeast LRT to go into service continues as the CEO of TransEd announced Friday more piers will need be repaired than previously thought.

The $1.8 billion public-private partnership between TransEd and the City of Edmonton is nearly two years behind schedule from the original in-service date of December 2020.

In August, cracks were found in 18 of 45 concrete piers supporting elevated sections of track. About a month later, three more were added to that tally.

"Each pier is affected by forces in different ways and our engineer assessment has determined how many piers need to be repaired," Ronald Joncas said in a video updated posted Friday.

"Based on their current assessment, 30 elevated guideway piers need to be repaired."

That's a catastrophic engineering failure. The design of the piers is too weak to handle the loads. Whoever designed this should be banned from infrastructure contracts. It just shouldn't have happened with the half century of industry experience Canada has building this kind of stuff

Flyover Trillium from end to end + airport spur + rail yards. Half is just farm fields, green fields and woods.

This whole project looks really cool. I don't even live in Toronto and I am excited about this. Same with the REM project in MTL.

It was supposed to open last summer, now it's been delayed to just before the school year starts next summer.

Why on earth didn't they just use normal monolithic columns instead of using a Y-shape? Monolithic columns can still be sculpted to offer more aesthetic appeal.

They cut too deep and now have to fix it. That's all. Of course, this mistake could have been avoided with Skytrain pillars that are as sexy as a highway overpass
