I'd like to add casinos to the ugly architecture list. These duds from around Calgary are a far cry form Montreal's elegant looking casino:

DT
and I totally forgot about the coin tossing. cringe!

I recall reading an article that interviewed an out of province transplant who moved here and her horror upon seeing this practice. She said some assholes would heat up the coins with their lighters before tossing them too.

From my hazy recollections of the French Maid the majority of the routine didn't even involve poll dancing. After a brief intro the stripper would lay out a towel and go spread eagle to collect money in a type of coin toss game. Shudder...

I think Ches' is classier. Or at least more authentic.

Are we sure that it is even Ches' diner? It reminds me of the dining hall in the Residences Soleil (where ironically, the sun never shines). However, nobody, save Eddy Savoie and Gilles Duceppe, ever made it out alive of les Residences Soleil.

We should plan a 2023 SSP Meet-up at the diner followed by a private tour of Les Résidences Soleil Manoir in Laval.

I like it! As a bonus we could tour The Rooms and do a pit stop to the Reno Depot parking lot where we could shotgun some Tim’s.

Here's a proposed addition to one of Europe's few art deco skyscrapers, located in Antwerp:

I mean, at least it's comforting to know that we're not the only ones who do this kinda shit. Would fit right in in Toronto:

Yeah, i can see the Ontario connection

I recall Ontario rednecks lying directly on the dance floor with toonies in their mouth (newly introduced) and strippers couching down and picking them out with their hoohahs in 1990s London, Ontario.

I was dragged to Caddy's in Scarbia in the early 2000s and saw the same thing. Caddy's was built on the ground floor of a long shutted 1960s motel. The story told by the co worker that dragged me there was that the rooms on the second floor remained intact.

Yeah, it's not a Toronto thing. The Toronto addition is forgettable while the other is the embodiment of star architecture . I like Toronto's addition better.

Daniel Libeskind loves forcing sharp, geometric shapes onto beautiful, historic structures.

Is an entire wing of the Antwerp proposal reserved for tree-filled atriums? None of that seems like it will turn out how the render looks. Given the existing building I'd also say it's more egregious.
