Virgin Hotels has announced plans to open a new hotel in the Design District of Dallas, Texas
Natalie Clarkson - Virgin Content Executive
June 24, 2015

Quote:
Expected to open in 2018, the Dallas property will be managed by Virgin Hotels and developed by Dunhill Partners, Vinculum Partners and The Crosland Group.

“We’re ecstatic to be a part of the new fabric of the Dallas Design District and play a role in continuation of the neighbourhood’s growth,” Virgin Hotels CEO Raul Leal said. “With chic stores, eclectic galleries and upscale restaurants, we expect Virgin Hotels Dallas to move into the neighbourhood seamlessly, as its aesthetic and offerings will attract the growing local creative class and business travellers that will call the Design District home.”

Located on High Line Drive and Turtle Creek Boulevard, Virgin Hotels Dallas will feature over 200 Chambers, including Grand Chamber Suites. The lifestyle hotel will offer multiple dining and drinking outlets, including the brand’s flagship space, The Commons Club, a rooftop terrace with a pool, gym and spa, plus numerous meeting spaces.

The hotel in Dallas will be a new build located within the 33 acres that developer Dunhill Partners and its founder Bill Hutchinson acquired in 2014. Surrounded by world class furniture showrooms, avant-garde art galleries, museums, antique shops and an influx of buzz-worthy new restaurants and shops, Virgin Hotels will feel right at home in the Design District.

The Virgin Hotels-Dallas will be located at the corner of Turtle Creek and Hi Line Drive in Dallas, Texas. Expected to garner LEED certification for its sustainable features, the 200-room Virgin Hotel takes a mid-century modern approach to create a highly appealing and refreshing environment for guests, with Grand Chamber Suites, along with multiple dining and drinking outlets, a rooftop terrace with a pool, gym and spa, plus numerous meeting spaces with al fresco features, large ballroom and a private roof-top bar. The hotel will also create an exciting new entertainment and music venue for Dallas.

Dallas hotel developer to build new Virgin hotel in the Design District
Candace Carlisle
September 26, 2016

Quote:
The developer behind Victory Park's W hotel has been selected to build the new 18-story Virgin Hotels Dallas in the city's Design District.

Dallas-based Gatehouse Capital Corp., led by CEO Marty Collins (who the Dallas Business Journal profiled two years ago), was selected to develop the 240-room luxury hotel, which will feature meeting spaces and a rooftop terrace.

"Gatehouse Capital has demonstrated it is the premiere lifestyle hotel developer in the country with its development of W Hollywood, W Dallas, W San Diego and W Silicon Valley, among others," said Bill Hutchinson, president of Dallas-based Dunhill Partners and managing partner in the group that owns much of the Design District.

Construction on the new Virgin Hotels Dallas is slated to begin in March 2017.

More information:

Quote:
The owners of the coming-soon Virgin hotel in Dallas' Design District have dropped plans for residential units and have taken on a new partner to help develop the $80 million-plus project.
Quote:
Now, developers have decided that the site for the first Virgin hotel in Texas is "simply too tight to accommodate both uses adequately," said Lucien "Luke" Crosland, owner of the Dallas-based Crosland Group and Crosland Investment Properties Inc.
Quote:
Demolition work has begun on a 25,000-square-foot brick showroom and warehouse on the site now.

Yeah that confused me to but I assume they wanted to get the ceremony out of the way so they can start ground work soon prior to actual construction starting next year. Or at least that's my best guess, plus with all the construction going on in north Texas and Texas as a whole there is a strain on the construction industry.

New rendering by 5G Studio Collaborative.

Facade features diamond-shaped cladding.

Also, dirt is moving.

Dang, this thing has changed outfits more than a season of Drag Race. I like the final design though.
