Looking at photos, I am really surprised by how visible it is. You can really see it from just about any angle, even Grant Park.

Regarding photos looking at downtown from the West, just, wow. That area West of downtown (West Loop? - not sure where the West loop ends) has just exploded. Would love to ride into downtown from Oak Park again just for the view. It's been a few years.

730 N Milwaukee turned out really nice. Would kill to have projects like that in LA.

Dammit that's a great building. Would love to see something like this further out in the neighborhoods anchoring TOD. Imagine this seen from the Kennedy out in Jefferson Park.

Ha! Jefferson Park would riot if something like this was proposed.

Agreed they did a great job on this one. I'm not a fan of the odd line above the glass at the setback but that's a minor complaint. Overall it's stellar.

So that's where the Erie-Lasalle body shop went! Definitely not on Erie and Lasaslle anymore.

No doubt. Doesn't make it wrong though.

I think it looks a little better in person. On Aberdeen, from behind, it blends in with the existing buildings really well with height and material usage, and then pops up with its glass top in a way that works when you're there. It holds the street well where it doesn't feel set back, disengaged or too massive. And the parking garage isn't too noticeable.

I don't think this is a showstopper or prize winner. And there's lots of even better infill in the West Loop. But it's set a standard for me for what workaday, well-executed TOD should look like.

They also have a big shop on 25th/Kedzie in Little Village.

Someone with a camera go to the Sears and take a picture of the Eastern elevation of the base from the garage. There's like two or three floors of the steel Skeleton exposed right now. Big giant cross bracing belt around the base with nothing covering it. Might be the last glimpse we get of the raw steel for decades.

There is no Thompson Center redevelopment. All we've had is rumor and speculation.

151 W. Illinois

A permit was issued yesterday for a Liebherr 316 EC-H tower crane at 151 W. Illinois. Looks like the 12 story office building will soon be under construction.
