Drawings of the same building by different artists

When there are multiple diagram entries of the same tower by different artists, how does Skyscraperpage determine which one will be the main one?

For example, the main Willis (Sears) Tower drawing that appears when you search the diagrams is by Koops65, but there are several other entries. How does the system decide which diagram to display?

Thank you for the explanation. I wasn’t sure if it was an algorithm or whether it was chosen by someone to be the main diagram. That makes sense now and I think the system has been working well. It was more out of curiosity and me trying to understand how the system works now that I’ve just gotten into drawing diagrams.

Isn't it Dylan's decision?
I don't know...
There are times when I'm sad (Haeundae I PARK)
but there's nothing I can do.
Monopolizing the main diagram is not good for diversity.
I think people who draw will be motivated when their paintings appear on the main page.
Therefore, I respect his choice.

I don't think someone's painting is right or bad.
I draw buildings as if I were dissecting them
so, buildings tend to be drew thick.
I've been trying not to do that lately
so my drawing is also not good and a lot to be desired.

In this case, you can see the date order which the drawings were submitted (image below), so Damien's drawing replaced Etesia's drawing because it is newer, and I usually do this to highlight newer drawings.

Steamboy's drawing isn't the correct height, unless I were to go in and adjust the image, since there currently is no auto-resize feature built into the database.

Sometimes people post in the forum that they want a different primary drawing selected for a building and I usually change it. (If you ever do so, please post a direct link to the building for me to use). In this case I've switched back to Etesia's drawings for the two Busan IPARK towers - https://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?cityID=10

Thank you for the insight! I appreciate that you allow new artists a chance to share in the spotlight, which I know can be a difficult decision when there are several great drawings to choose from.

I love that this website keeps all the variations because I love looking at how different artists perceive the same building. I enjoy Koops65 and Steamboy for their realism. I love etesia’s and Xiaomianlong’s drawings as well for their use of artistic shading and light.

As a beginner, I just don’t know how everyone is able to pump out so many amazing drawings. It currently takes me about 10 work-hours to do a single one that turns out so-so.

Is very common to take 10 hours or more to do a building, in my case with some buildings can be some days

In your case is amazing the quality of your drawings seeing that they are the first ones, really high quality

Thank you! I’m very tough on myself and keep going back to make changes until I’m satisfied with the results. I like to study the works of other illustrators for inspiration, and to better understand what techniques they use for shading, light, and perspective.

What is your username? I searched for La_Parca and some variations of that but couldn’t find anything.

Your drawings are incredible, and you have so many. Especially the Basilica Nuestra Señora de Lourdes and the Estrada de Ferro Central. I love the complexity and attention to detail.

A bit random, but unless I'm mistaken did Steamboy sneak a diagram in last week after a multi-year hiatus?

It has been confirmed that the Steemboy's painting is not correct height, so Dylan probably changed it himself.
Steamboy hasn't been on for five years.

At my last conversation with him, he intended to do Architecture in Taiwan Schools and probably he would be a great Architect. He is still very active in his Facebook as Wei Neo, https://www.facebook.com/wei.neo

As SSP is not a dynamic Web presence in terms of diagrams, we all know the problems, maybe he lost interest in illustrating here, same as me...
That makes me feel good at least, glad knowing he’s doing alright.
