Now, for the first time in this thread about beautiful Brazil, the second most populous state in the country, and one of it´s most industrialised and wealthy. The state of gold, silver and diamonds and of liberalism: Minas Gerais.

First, a wealthy and beautiful winter resort town up in the hills of Minas Gerais. So tall that it gives the city a temperate climate. Even summers in this town are mild and rainy. The city was founded and built by european immigrants attracted mainly to the temperate weather.

The town is surrounded by green forests, very well preserved.

And in the town itself, green and open spaces are everywhere.

A luxurious hotel built in the 1940´s and formerly a cassino, it was renovated into a luxury hotel that attracts visitors from all over Brazil.

This hotel is very impressive. It´s very US style, looks a lot like hotels in Florida, California, Texas, Arizona and Colorado.

BMWs. A Western European lifestyle and a US lifestyle in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Contrary to some misbeliefs and wrong misconcepctions, Brazil is not only the coast. Minas Gerais was already Brazil´s wealthiest province centuries ago, even during colonial times. Its high altitudes and mild climate in large parts of the now state and its gold and diamond deposits attracted people and investors from all parts of the globe, not only to its capital city, Belo Horizonte, but also to other cities in the state.
